| What I don't understand about this is why a new club was not set up with no ties to the former club so that this sort of thing would not happen? Surely there was some way of ringfencing the new club and the RFL would have rubber-stamped it in terms of giving it a franchise.
Surely even the RFL cannot sweep this one under the carpet....bl***dy hell its a more transparent and fair administration in Myanmar than we have at the RFL!

| IMO the RFL needs to make its mind up,
We either go with the model they have now, expansion, bringing through home grown youth so we can compete with Aus & NZ, creating better stadia etc but make sure it is a level playing field, because it currently isn't.
Or back to P&R which is a fairer system, that all other sports use, which in effect will not achieve the gains the RFL are chasing via the existing model.
I am in favour of the model in use at present even though my club has been dumped on, along with other Champ clubs, as I want to see our sport spread and improve, but the system is flawed as the RFL will break their own rules to keep expansion clubs going.
Come on RFL make up your minds you can't have it both ways, you are turing our sport into a joke.

| Got to make financial security a bigger factor in the franchising process, even if it means lodging a security deposit with the RFL. It is rumoured that Steve O'Connor offered it up last time around. For a new franchise especially, i think this could be a safer bet if the RFL think about going down this route again.

| Could someone explain all this to me?
Quote: RFL "The club shareholders took action at the High Court of Justice in Leeds to prevent the club from being wound up by creditors, who are thought to include HM Revenue and Customs and former owner Leighton Samuel. '"
For what reason would they rather go into administration?
If they have set up a new company, does it matter, or, if they were wound up, would the creditors have more chance of getting some money back?

The three clubs most under threat have all got generations of supporters, you can't build that up over night and thats why the expansion clubs for a sport like RL are always going to be a gamble. I don't mind a gamble but you shouldn't cast aside long standing clubs on a whim as the RL appear to be happy to do.
Only in RL could this happen. Could you see the Premier League inviting someone to go into the top flight and kicking an established club out?
The words Pee up and brewery spring to mind.'"
It happens every year in the Premier League.
Oh, and whichever current SL club(s) which is unsuccessful in its licence bid - whether it's us, Wakey, Salford or even Crusaders or someone else - won't be making way for Crusaders or any other expansion club but for one or more of the Championship clubs which have qualified to bid. All of which are, in your own words, longstanding heartland clubs with generations of supporters.

Based on the field as far as premier league goes and nobody would be complaining especially not me if that was still the case.
Why do you feel the need to twist peoples words. You and everyone else knew what I meant and would accept its a joke. Please justify to me why what is going on should be accepted.

Sorry but in the context of endless discussion on this very board about the merits of franchise vs P&R that statement has gone way way past the point of simply being ironic - thats moronic.
If you had ever displayed any evidence of having a sense of humour I would have to conclude you were just trying to wind the flatcappers up. But in the absence of that I am just left in my minds eye with a picture of a person who, seeing the sky falling in, responds by sticking their fingers in their ears and shouting la-la-la in the hope that it will make the problem go away.

Not a rumour Rich. Steve had this as part of our application. The sum was £500,000 to be deposited with the RFL. The clowns still wouldn't accept us as being the best option for a 14th club. Utterly incompetent.

| Lewis, Woods and all, withdraw the sword and fall at your leisure. Those in love with our once great game can seize the opportunities to expand before us, under the banner of a united sport.

It's very poetic but Wrexham going into administration hardly prompts me to seize anything. Yes, what's happened makes an emotive headline but there's about 45,000 regular fans of the top four SL clubs who couldn't give a rats ass really. Until something rocks the very core of the RFL then no-one there will really act decisively on anything. When BskyB show signs of pulling the plug that's when Mr Manikin Rimmer will be stored away to make way for Mr Lewis once more.
Roll on 2011. It's going to be better than ever.

| No this is interesting. Crusaders to be kicked out of SL and Widnes to take their place. next year, under franchising review, the least capable SL side (widnes) gets relegated in favour of the best Championship club (crusaders) ...

| It'll be a farce if the Crusaders are given a franchise next time round, not because of the location but they have gone into administration. Which I am sure is a reason why the likes of Leigh and Widnes was overlooked.
