| It is a great victory for Nigel Wood's plan to make the Super League more insular than ever: it will help a suburb of Wigan's chances of joining the M-62 + 1 competition in 2016.

It would be good news had he signed for a club whose success can help rugby league's national or international profile -- like London, Toulouse, or even Sheffield. But he has signed for a very parochial, nationally insignificant, suburb of Wigan, whose advancement will only confirm the media and popular view that rugby league is a boutique northern English pastime that doesn't matter to the vast majority of people anywhere.

| Great signing if it was 2007.
Seriously i don't get the hype, he played very little last year, he won't even be the best forward in the Leigh squad.

| No green here, rumours months back that we were linked with him, i hoped they weren't true.
He's a former big name that is washed up.
Not one NRL club would be so excited over this, few SL clubs would be either.
I like Leigh, I'm not going to bag the club, just this isn't the mega signing it looks on paper.

Luck is a combination of preparation and opportunity
Just to avoid confusion Starbug is the username of Steven Pike
SOMEBODY SAID that it couldn’t be done
But he with a chuckle replied
That “maybe it couldn’t,” but he would be one
Who wouldn’t say so till he’d tried.
So he buckled right in with the trace of a grin
On his face. If he worried he hid it.
He started to sing as he tackled the thing
That couldn’t be done, and he did it!:9005.jpg |

All about perspective, a storm in a teacup? ,possibly, but a lot of fun for us and spilling into the Championship, most probably just the 1 season and an opportunity for Leigh to push on and build up our fan base in pursuit of a SL spot
Plus we'll sell a shed load of wigs

That's the point, he hasn't signed for an NRL or SL club (despite the best efforts of some). Regardless of who it is, to get a player who played a dozen NRL games the previous season to move to the other side of the world to play in the second tier is a tremendous coup whichever way you look at it.

I agree I think Emmitt or Barlow will probably claim that status but Moi Moi will be the most exciting! He will be a cult figure, a well known name and player with tons of experience and he will get people up out of their seats every time he charges in.
I think he will be an amazing impact player and if used right will be just as useful for raising the profile of the club and hopefully the attendances will follow. Not to mention the help he can give to our mostly pretty young set of forwards.

simpsons/simp048.gif I have only been wrong once and thats because I thought I was wrong but I was wrong I was right!
Petty authoritarians aren’t man enough to challenge the actions of a person face to face; instead they incite a forum of rumour, innuendo and half truths, and impose rude sanctions to discourage those who dare question fairness.

| This reminds me a bit of when my club, Keighley, signed Joe Grima. Joe was massive for the club both on the pitch and off. He spent a lot of time in schools getting kids down to matches and in local companies raising sponsorship. He organised a convoy of coaches with 1000 kids on a trip to an international at Wembley. I don't think that feat has ever been bettered. I'm pretty sure he repaid the sign on fee many times over.
Fui Fui has the potential to be big for Leigh but first and foremost he will have to be fully fit to take some of the big hits that are undoubtably coming his way. Every chancer in the League will want to be the one to do a "Burgess" on him.
Good luck to Leigh for the ambition, it will be interesting to see how he goes. I might even pop over to Halifax when they play.

I think the BIG HITS in the Championship, he will certainly receive, will undoubtedly be the most frightening aspect for him of coming to Leigh and R/L here. I mean the NRL has no BIG hitters therein, does it?
I like the rest of your comment but I do think that he will be capable of taking(not to mention GIVING)a couple of those after so many seasons within the NRL.
I watched the NRL avidly last season and to be honest was a little confused over why he was suddenly considered not good enough any more, as he was doing just the same as he has always done and often with as much impact as he always provided.
Good signing age or not he will add interest to the Leigh side if nothing else and could even turn out to be a good player there also.
