Scousers live everywhere as I am based in Gloucester and a person I know has a Scouse accent.Does that mean Gloucester people are Scousers? Some say I have a Manc accent.Anyway I have some good Scousers friends and not all are annoying. Thought discrimination was banned in this country.

Proof if it were ever needed !
Anyhoo...who gives FF?
A little history lesson of it is at all required but the 'Scouse Migration' took place predominantly in the 50's & 60's due to so called slum clearances. The people who lived in the housing areas which were cleared moved to, amongst many other places, outlying towns such as Widnes, Runcorn, Skelmersdale and a little strangely Winsford. Newer housing estates, such as Upton in Widnes were built and Scousers moved en masse into these areas so, as they all sort of stuck together, the accent remained. I grew up in Upton and as such have loads of scouse friends and aquaintances.
Nothing wrong with Scousers as a whole although some can be opinionated and sanctimonious, a bit like Yorkshire folk in that respect

| To my Warringtonian ear the traditional Widnes and Sintellins accents are very similar. And it isn't Scouse it is rather unique.

Barrow used to be in Lancashire, Hull was technically a county in its own right between c.1485 and 1974 and if my neighbour's to be believed God is WELSH!

| Widnes is becoming more and more scouse all the time... My friend lives there, has done all his life, he has 3 children, all boys, 7, 11, 14.... They all go to school in widnes, play rugby in widnes, support widnes....ALL of them have a scouse accent.
if you speak with a scouse accent, you're a scouser.. It doesnt matter where you live or what your phone number is. Your ACCENT is the thing that defines you.

I can't say that I've heard any folk from Warrington speaking with what I'd call a scouse accent. I used to visit there regularly as we had one of our offices located near the Causeway, occasionally grabbing lunch out the office I didn't notice any scouse accents. I'm sure there are people out there who speak with more of a regional inflection than others even if they live next door to each other and that dialect will bleed into fringes of other areas due to population migration and who people associate/socialise with.
Certainly the way I pronounce my vowels changes after being back in Hull a few days though it soon gets to normal once I get back over the Southern softy borders..lol
