| Obviously being a Saints Fan I love the Wigan-St. Helens derby, it's usually always a cracker the 28-24 last season was literally the best sporting game i've been to (been watching RL for 6 seasons now, football and others for longer).
However, the Hull Derby is the best. For History the Wigan Saints is far superior, and in SL era, with Wigan and Saints being successful throughout it adds the interest, But the passion, rivalry on display for each Hull team and their fans is simply outstanding.
Winner for me.

| Quote wirethunder="wirethunder"Wigan are only just up the road from us,so imo opinion it's a derby, and it's the best one right now.
Warrington and St Helens are neighbouring towns so it's a derby. And this is the second biggest one for me.
Widnes are supposed to be a derby match of ours. But it's only a big game for 'Vikings' fans thesedays. For us, it's just another fixture.'"
wakefield is only up the road from leeds but not classed as a derby, similarly hudds and bradford. tradition dictates that wigan's derby match will only be saints - clubs only have one derby game

| So the two biggest derby games both involve Warrington and neither are against the team widely regarded as their traditional derby opponents, brilliant.

| Wigan v Saints. When was the last time we played a comeptitive match that was NOT shown on TV? There have been Hull derbies not shown on TV, and even the Sky manufactured Bradford v Leeds game hasn't been on Sky.
No matter what the teams positions are, what their form is, or where it's played......it's on TV because the one that everyone wants to see.

How would you know it has nothing to do with their positions? One of them has always been top end.
If Saints and Wigan were both midtable, no one would really be that bothered.

Yes, but when Saints were top and we were bottom why pick that game for TV when the result was clearly evident?

| It's a question that nobody will ever agree on due to personal bias, but I think the actions of Sky, the BBC and RFL speak volumes.

Indeed, did the actions of Sky and The RFL speak volumes when deciding that Leeds v St Helens would be the game that launched the Monday night games?
For me, the Hull derby is the biggest. Leeds - Bradford missed out the odd time after a number of years of below average and dull rugby by the Bulls, if either Saints or Wigan were in the same position (note: for a number of years) the game wouldn't generate as much interest and could possibly not be picked by Sky.

Wakey Leeds is classed as a derby match and in the 60s it was one of the biggest we always played them boxing day & and Easter to the older fans its still wakeys biggest match and still draws our biggest attendance. For wakey it's always been cas fev & Leeds that are classed as derbys with cas becoming the main one in recent years.

Yes. It was by far the biggest tie of the round, was a repeat of 4 of the last 5 Grand Finals, and is usually a cracking game. No issues there.
Seeing as it isn't a derby however, I don't see its relevance to a thread about derbies.

| Although it isn't up there my favourite is Wire v Wigan, not saying it's the best for everyone but it is for me.

| The Mighty Vikings Vs 'Wolfs'
thats the only one. in fact, its so awesome a rivalry that most cant even begin to consider it with their feeble mortal minds lest they be driven mad by the sheer awesomeness of the tie.
