| I have a mate who moved to Sydney about 8 years ago and he is now a Roosters member, so they are now my preffered NRL team. I was at the 2004 GF and managed to get to see them last April at Penrith, as well as a few other random games......also have a soft spot for Manly

Probably same reason you won't see many in Australia! If the people in their own suburb don't like them what chance an international fanbase?

I've seen quite a few being worn over here actually.
I asked one bloke who was wearing one whereabouts in the Shire he came from.
He said 'Castleford'
Guess he must have just liked the colours

| Quote Barry_McKenzie="Barry_McKenzie"A cursory glance around any superleague fixture reveals quite a few English people wearing NRL club shirts.
North Queensland Cowboys, St George Illawarra and Brisbane Broncos seem the most popular from what I've seen.
I'd be interested to find out what makes your average bloke from Hull, St Helens or any other northern English town or city support a particular NRL club. Why would anyone from Hull support Melbourne Storm??? Why would anyone from Wigan support St George???
Interestingly enough I don't recall seeing any Aussie footy fans proudly sporting the latest Castleford, Wigan or St Helens jumper at an NRL match.
Do you think this is just because so many NRL jumpers are listed on ebay these days??? Are they better quality??? Is it because the colours are nicer??? Is it because you think the NRL is better than Superleague???'"
As an Hull FC fan Parramatta became my team after Sterlo's time at our club. Then in 1987 My cousin went over to Aus for a season to play RL and brought me back a Parramatta jacket. They are the first team who's result I always look for first and read their reports if I have not seen the game. I like to watch the NRL ingerneral purly because it's RL.
When I went to Aus in 2000 I wished I had taken a case full of Liverpool, Man U and Arsenal shirts. I would have made a killing in the many bars of Sydney and Cairns that I went into. So I suppose we could turn your question around and ask why does the average Aussie support English premier league sides?

| Suppose ill join in even though im sure we had a 10+ page thread in the off season on the same thing
I met a girl in the Gong back in 02 and she supported the Dogs. Since then I have been a Dogs supporter and will always be. It also helps that one of my best mates is from Bankstown and is a Dogs supporter too.
In fact these days I see more of the Bulldogs than I do of Leeds so id call them my 1st team now.

| Wests for me for no other reason than the first ever league game I went to was Balmain Vs North Sydney in June 1988...
Can't honestly even remember who won (I think it was the Tigers).
I guess having Paaat playing at The Piedome helps with the allegiance too :0)

| First team was the Eels because they had the same colours as Leeds. Now mainly the Titans but I go to watch the Broncos. Just never really had a great affinity for my 'hometown' team for some reason.
BTW, if you think it's a tad sad that English league fans should wear NRL shirts, how about the Aussie lads wearing Man U or Liverpool shirts around town. It's a sad look even in an English football fan IMO.
Personally, I only ever wear my Watersplash replica Leeds jersey (Wembley 68) because it's a proper rugby shirt, not some piece of polyester tat. I'm surprised more clubs don't sell 'proper' jerseys because I for one wouldn't be seen dead in one of those uncomfortable and frankly tatty looking 'shirts' that seem to be the only things available. Some clubs here do a nice line in polo shirts though.

Who people follow and why is nothing to do with you convict Barry.
The are few people in England who do like to wear convict nrl shirts but not many wearing sharks tops.
Wonder why?
