A secret dossier handed to News Limited by sacked Storm CEO Matt Hanson last Friday night reveals league's best player was earning $200,000 more than the $400,000 deal disgraced former boss Brian Waldron had registered with the NRL.
* MELBOURNE conceded they would be almost impossible to keep the team together beyond this season; and
* SHARKS captain Paul Gallen declared he believed the Storm players would likely have been aware of the salary cap rorts. But Gallen added he would find it hard to "knock back" any financial inducement offered to him.

Slater's manager George Mimis said his client was innocent of any wrongdoing and confirmed AFL, rugby union and rival NRL clubs had already made informal approaches should the Test fullback be cut to ease Melbourne's salary cap woes.
The Daily Telegraph revealed exclusively yesterday that the new Melbourne Rebels Super rugby franchise would make a massive offer to Slater within the next 10 days

when they move to Q'land?
I'm in Melbourne today and Waldron is threatening to "blow the lid off" the NRL if they agree to a commision hearing where he will swear under oath to the information he has re how much the NRL knew about the Storm rorting, the facts he has on other teams cheating the cap and various other damaging things. This could get very ugly!
He claims he talked to Gallop about it 4 yeasr ago and Gallop has come out and said he has "no recollection" of the disucussion.

| My, how in the world would wally waldron know what the other clubs are up to?
All hot air to deflect attention, that's all.
Which club would be stupid enough to show the CEO of another club their books or talk about what they pay to anyone?
The guys a grub.

"With many of the Storm players' contracts back-ended so they receive more money next season, the club needs to make savings of more than $1m to compete in the 2011 premiership."
news ltd and nrl demand players must go rather than players cutting their contracts
we need an attacking centre so inglis could well like to play under bennett

"CLUB chief executives suspect that NRL teams other than the Melbourne Storm are cheating the salary cap, with one saying ''six or seven clubs come to mind'' including one that is believed to ''hand money out in brown paper bags''.
'There's probably six or seven clubs that come to mind and certainly one in particular who has been doing it for years,'' one club chief executive said. ''But that club will never get caught because they hand out money in brown paper bags and don't leave a paper trail like the Storm.''
The same chief executive said they had for years wondered why they could never attract players from Melbourne. ''I always thought they were but I had no idea that sort of stuff was going on,'' he said. ''Every time we try to get one of their players or a player they were interested in, we couldn't match the money they were getting at the Storm.''

By 2005 Kearns's battered body was telling him his time at the elite level was short. But he was still worth good money in a [sizelesser club[/size, which was why the Leeds league club made him an offer to play in England in 2006.

Leeds have never been caught cheating and looking at what the Storm have been up to then are also the best team in the world.
Either that, or give the title back to manly for another year.
