Psst.
3 losses=6 points.

Just to point out the in the Championship the punishment is actually much harsher than the one that will be dished out Crusaders. When Widnes were deducted 9 points this was in a season of 18 league games so the punishment was 9 out of a possible 54 points available = 16.67%. Crusdaers will get 6 points out of a possible 54 = 11.11%. In the interests of fairness shouldn't SL sides be deducted proportionally the same as a Championship club? As Starbug points out - not that a points deduction really matters to a SL club though.

of coure the crowds wil pick up due to : a) probably about 90% travelling/visiting supporters (except Catalans & Quins) and b)10% ish through increased local interest - the Vikings fan base won't actually increase that much so when they revert back to the Championship the crowds will be back to 2000ish -

Widnes's home support [ not away fans ] will increase between 50 and 100 % depending on who they are playing and how well they do

So around 3,500 at present to around 5,500/7,000 , they will average around 8,200 in 2012

That will potentially grow to over 10,000 over 5 years

Widnes do not get 2,000ish and never have. We get 3,000ish. The rest is lazy, and ill thought out crud. When did Widnes ever average 2,000ish?

If Widnes increased 10% ish on only 2,000ish that would put our home support against clubs like London at only 2,200ish. If it did so on 3,000ish, that would be 3,300ish.

So how do you explain this?
Widnes v London: 2002 (5,182) - 2003 (5,009) - 2004 (4,829) - 2005 (5,996)

Total over 4 years: 21,016

Average 5,204

Almost all will be Widnes fans. I would say that’s a lot more than 10%. Based on that, our overall SL averages would show away following at far less than 90% and more like 30%.
Widnes SL average attendance:
2002 - (6510) - 2003 (6511) - 2004 (6153) - 2005 (6794)

Nothing you have written adds up, therefore I can only conclude that you are talking complete sh\te. icon_smile.gif

So not much hope for Toulouse then? As by your reckoning they have exhausted local fan base, will only get away fans from Catalan so looking at a SL average of 1,000 maximum? Might as well not bother eh icon_biggrin.gifOH:

I think (and hope) that when Widnes are in Super League in 2012, they will progress like Wire have, big backer, nice stadium, good fanbase, all they need is the players and by all accounts the youth set up is good at Widnes.
I reckon you will progress to average 10k+.

I was speaking with someone the other day who told me Widnes's stadium is superb.

Is it?

Never been there myself (and probably never will now)
