You mean the World CUP , and what was originally the European CUP
We have CUP competitions that involve the luck of the draw as well
But League competitions dont involve a draw but are straight competitions against all the other teams in your LEAGUE |

Yes it is now called the Champions LEAGUE , but it is not a genuine League competition , It was changed for financial reasons and has devalued the winning of individual country's premier competitions

I do think it quite amusing that posters often referred to as "flat cappers" seem to support the idea of a new system of determining the champions while others are praising the play offs "because it's been like that for most of RL history".
