True, although if they win it this year, as long as they don't crash and burn in the next two years then they'll have ticked the on-field standards box. It was to stop the mentality of "we've done well one year in semi-pro, let's have a crack at the big time even though we're completely unready", that franchises were introduced.

What they need to focus on is developing their youth, getting the finance right and building a fanbase. They should see this as having ticked one box and start building for the future knowing they;ve a head start over other NL1 clubs. Good luck to them. They provided me with one of my most painful RL memories, and I don't hold it against them. It would be good to see them back in the big time in 2011.

Seriously, I doubt it because the club isn't ready for a return to Superleague yet. We'd hate to attempt it prematurely and crash and burn.

What a refreshing stance to take. COmpare that to the widnes fans whos team had recently gone bust and couldnt even make the national league grand final and the way they still cry about it.

We wouldn't be "geared" up for SL right now and our board would know it. They would be tempted to take the shortcut though. It's like Alan Sugar offering you a place on his board and a £7m mansion. You'd take it but you'd feel like a pig in a dress.
