If SOO isn't part of the deal, then those 3 games a year a worth a few bob because they are the highest ranked sports programmes in Australia I think.....but I believe that they are part of the overall deal.'"

I would imagine they are as they are the highlight of the RL Calendar, but I think that they are not an NRL product as such. They just contain players who play in the NRL first grade comp.

I know I've lived in Victoria, I didn't go and support a AFL side though.

Where did I say they weren't great bars in Sydney?

Quote: gf "but have also shown how the IRB will generate a Billion USA dollars over 4 tournaments and that is even before they have sold the individual TV rights.'"

So the hosting fee for the 2015 ruwc is US$250 Mil is it? That may come as a bit of a shock to both the rfu and UK government who are expecting to pay significantly less than that.
C'mon gf, I kno you're trying to wind up the Aussies, but a fella in your posisition with your contacts should at least use accurate figures...They still beat anything RL can produce.

Speaking of the SH, could you tell the forum how much profit the NZru and Auzru have reported over the last two financial yrs?
How are the provincial unions going in 2/3rds of sanzar?

Quote: gf "The benefit to NZRU and the Kiwi tax payer for this $50,000,000 risk,'"

I think you'll find they (the NZ Government) have spent a wee bit more than that. That said, in light of the recent events in NZ, I hope this particular tournament is a success.

Quote: gf "the business model used by the IRB is so far ahead of the NRL/ESL that it is funny.'"

Aye and allus has been unfortunately. RL is riddled with insular thinking and self interest.

Quote: gf "What gets me...is the now long departed posse and dally messenger acting like self appoined bully boys.....trying to gang up and get people to just walk away'"

icon_lol.gif Yea, RL fans trying to post about RL on an RL forum - They should be like you and promote union a bit more, ay.

US$218 Million was the amount agreed......
Quote: joedynamo "C'mon gf, I kno you're trying to wind up the Aussies, but a fella in your posisition with your contacts should at least use accurate figures...They still beat anything RL can produce.'"
...Japan agreed 248 million for the one after....think that might be moved though.

Losses I believe......well, NZRU maybe broke even, but ARU skint as.......

...terribly...fans can't be bothered by the looks of it. In fact...3/3rds....have you seen how cheap it is to get into a game in sith ifrica.....even a sydneysider would go...rain or not icon_biggrin.gif

Are they threfore nothing to do with the NRL as such if that's the case apart from playing first grade in a comp called the NRL. Which basically was the NSWRL and then the ARL.

Not winding up, but can someone seriously clarify? Just wondering if gutterfax needs to include 15 SOO games in his estimations if Origin doesn't classify as NRL games, which they may not.'"

Quick search of google came up with this.....not sure which Herald it refers too though........and I was apparently incorrect....it wasn't US dollars but Aussie Dollars. My bad.

[iTHE International Rugby Board has made an audacious dash for cash by deciding to slug countries an exorbitant $207million tournament fee to host the 2015 World Cup. And if any country wants to host the 2019 World Cup, it will cost a whopping $248m.

When the IRB announced after its meeting in Hong Kong on Tuesday that the hosts of the 2015 and 2019 World Cups would be decided in July next year, a major detail was left out - massive up-front tournament fees.

The Herald was told last night that the IRB had decided it would charge the 2015 World Cup host nation a tournament fee of £100m ($A207.38m). The 2019 host would be hit with a £120m ($A248.75m) fee.

This initiative surprised, even astounded some leading IRB delegates, who argued that it was unreasonable considering that many other major sporting organisations did not charge a tournament fee for world events.

This move would ensure that only a few rich rugby nations, such as England and France, could bid for World Cups from 2015 as countless fringe nations would shy off even contemplating staging the event because it would be far too expensive.

It is understood that the Australian IRB delegates were the only ones to argue at the meeting against the excessive tournament fees.

But Australia encountered widespread opposition from numerous other countries, including Scotland, Ireland and Wales - who are not in a financial position to host the tournament but could clearly see a financial windfall coming their way involving the minimum of effort. More money going into the IRB coffers means a bigger slice coming their way.

As one international rugby official told the Herald last night

yeah a number of RL fans have messaged me complaining about all the trolls on here who clearly have an anti RL agenda.

its turning away the good knowledgable posters for the people with little to contribute

thankfully ive put them on ignore since the RL season has started, why waste time on them when weve got footy to talk about

i expect by the time the footy is finished theyll have given up trolling here as people will no longer fall for their anti RL spiel
