Luck is a combination of preparation and opportunity
Just to avoid confusion Starbug is the username of Steven Pike
SOMEBODY SAID that it couldn’t be done
But he with a chuckle replied
That “maybe it couldn’t,” but he would be one
Who wouldn’t say so till he’d tried.
So he buckled right in with the trace of a grin
On his face. If he worried he hid it.
He started to sing as he tackled the thing
That couldn’t be done, and he did it!:9005.jpg |

The club involved in the statement you quote was liquidated the day after the 2007 NL1 Grand Final and all employees, including all players, found themselves without jobs. And Widnes fans found themselves without a club or team to support. Only after that did it enter administration.
Have those things happened at Crusaders?
Indeed - and I ask this question because I have no idea of the answer - is it the club that's gone into administration in Wrexham or the holding company which owns the club? There's an actual and real difference (eg the difference between Widnes 2007 [all players sacked] and London Broncos 2005 [all players and staff with unbroken employment on contracts which remained in force])'"
What utter bollox

Year 1 struggle to get a crowd, go bust, move north
Year 2 get something like a crowd, go bust, enter administration
one can only imagine what the year 3 plan is!'"
Indeed we can

| Oh dear. Shame for the fans who were willing to put their hard earned into the club and have embraced a new sport in the country. However I think that no current SL club should lose their place to Crusaders, it really would be embarrassing for the game. They were put into SL unfairly in many peoples eyes and they are the weakest club in the competition in a business sense. There is no guarantee that the club will thrive if they were given a new franchise. What a mess !

So as long as everybody has a ' holding company ' going bust and reforming every year is OK
pathetic

The bit in bold is both inaccurate and I suspect deliberately disingenuous.
You have made this claim several times on this board in the last few years but simply repeating something over and over does not make it true.
I'm sure you already knew all of the above, but HTH nonetheless.

You don't really think they would still be around in 2015 do you? They wouldn't last five minutes in the championship.

| i think the supporters of rl are going to be split into two corners on this one.
1.the supporters of clubs who are safe and know full well that their chosen club will get a franchise next time around, these fans will see no problem in the crusaders carrying on in another name and will purely lookat it has im alright jack so i dont care.
2. supporters of wakey, cas, salford, leigh, widnes and most other championship sides will hope that the crusaders get dropped from super league at the next franchise stage.
my own view is of course that no way should another club be removed from super league whilst the crusaders remain,if the rfl are hell bent on keeping crusaders in the top flight then to save any credability at all they must go to a 15 team comp.what they do however is another matter i just hope they can sleep straight on a night.

| If theres a company willing to go now, and lets be honest Crusaders lastyear were a relative success; why oh why throw the hard work away, it just doesnt make sense.
Bad to say but if your club went under those juniors will just make their way to wakey/leeds et al

I'd suggest it doesn't divide so simply

Coming into their third year in superleague and the third time they have had major issues. I would ask you why we should allow a heartlands club who through thick and thin have survived for over 100 years to run the risk of going out of business, for a club who have shown one decent season on the field based on operating to different quota rules then anyone else and being subsidised by the RFL. Also as someone else has said where is the evidence they would be able to see out another three year licence period, cos they aint doing too well at present.
The three clubs most under threat have all got generations of supporters, you can't build that up over night and thats why the expansion clubs for a sport like RL are always going to be a gamble. I don't mind a gamble but you shouldn't cast aside long standing clubs on a whim as the RL appear to be happy to do.
Only in RL could this happen. Could you see the Premier League inviting someone to go into the top flight and kicking an established club out?
The words Pee up and brewery spring to mind.

| On the plus side, Crusaders are one of the lead stories on 'Wales Tonight'. It's the first time I can even remember them getting a mention.
