Not so sure Ste.
I seem to recall this as a business decision by the BOD in order to a put everything into the 1st team squad for an assault on promotion & because so few Clubs were competing in Championship Academy RL it wasn't felt viable at the time.
Leigh were invited by SL member clubs to compete in the SL Academy comp but it was felt that the academy squad wasn't quite set to jump up a level.
Championship academy RL was on its at the time with Clubs not fulfilling fixtures & falling by the wayside.
I also (correct me if i am wrong) remember DB saying that an Academy would be looked at/introduced if/when promoted to SL, I hope for the long term success of Leigh that Derek does create a SL academy squad & that we pay it due respect. |

Where did Bradford and London come from?
Halifax as you say are running scholarship schemes something different than academy set ups. |
