I think what he actually insinuated was that his investment in Hull City particularly in terms of the stadium will also benefit Hull FC. He claims he wants to be seen as being equally supportive of both clubs as he knows many Rovers fans also support City.

We've being here with Lloyd before and he nearly killed two of the Citys sports clubs. I reckon if City were to not get promoted in the next three seasons he would lose interest fast when he realizes he isn't making money.
All he is doing is going around dropping off "gifts" to get people to like him and then when he gets a hold of the stadium the tides will turn. Is long term vision for rugby League is to eventually get both Hull clubs playing under one stadium before eventually becoming the same club.
Which we all know will end up being the end of RL in Hull. I am hoping he is not allowed to get that far.

Yeah he said the potential support of both clubs channelled into a single one would make it more successful, but I doubt very much that he thinks it's possible. I also doubt he'd go through the upheaval of doing it with the level of bad feeling there would be towards it. Especially when even at best the end result would have nowhere near the earning potential of a football club (which he already has). Christ, he doesn't even own either club for a start!
Also would he really give Hull KR a helping hand (out) if he'd rather they moved in with their neighbours than develop their own ground? I'm far from convinced about his motives and longevity, but I think saying a merger is his 'vision' is jumping the gun somewhat.

We're coming to make some noise!: |
|
| Quote: Dave K. "This below seems to hint to be that it is a interest free loan,
Neither KR or the Mr Allam have confirmed whether or not a repayment agreement has been reached, due to commercial sensitivity.
Where does it mention the word "gift"?
If you invest some money, you at least want what you put in back (Allam doesn't seem to want to make profit out of this deal though)?
I wouldn't want to take investment advice of you Nick.'"
Yet a few paragraphs down it stated
"Mr Hudgell added that he had specifically offered a return on any investment, but this was declined as the Allams are not interested in making any return out of their involvement in sport."
Ok the general opinion would be that if someone puts something in they want that back but in NO article did it state that the amount was going to be paid back at all. So people stating it WAS a loan were making an assumption without the facts being released.
Mr Allam obviously knows Rovers make a loss year on year, he must know that RL in general loses money with few clubs making profits. If we add up all the money Neil has ploughed in to the club he would probably have been worth twice as much as he is now.
The Hull Daily Mail also state "Allam has agreed to plough more than £1m into Rovers in what appears to be an interest-free loan."
So even todays press have not got any specific details. As I haven't heard any radio interview with Mr Allam I do not know what has come out of the mans mouth. Anybody able to accurately quote what he put on the radio??

I think the 'offered return on any investment' means they won't be paying Mr Allam any interest on his investment, not that Rovers won't have to pay the £1m back atall.

Yes. Allam said it was a soft loan, which means a loan with a lower than market value interest rate and/or preferential repayment terms. Given the statement about not making a return it's safe to assume that the interest rate is zero. The repayment terms have not been made public, but it [iis[/i a loan rather than a gift.

£1million [iis[/i a seven figured sum. In the absence of anything more detailed it's as good a working figure as any.

Correct, but thats not what most KR supporters believe is it, they think that Mr Allam has given them £1 million in some sort of deal to stitch up FC
Even a zero rate loan is good going if that is what it is, makes you wonder why they had to go cap in hand to him for money.

30596_1286642206.jpg If there is no struggle, there is no progress. Those who profess to favor freedom, and yet depreciate agitation, are men who want crops without plowing up the ground. They want rain without thunder and lightning. They want the ocean without the awful roar of its many waters. This struggle may be a moral one; or it may be a physical one; or it may be both moral and physical; but it must be a struggle.

We really don't. Some of us have our concerns but are prepared to see how this initially pans out.

Because like many Rugby League clubs we are working at a loss year on year. No club can continue to do this without some sort of insolvency over the years. We have fought hard to avoid liquidation and spent around a decade in administration just to try and keep our heads slightly above water.
Like any business that is struggling during these economic hard times loans and good will gestures are needed. I refuse to believe that if anyone came to the Hull FC board and offered them £1m whether it be an interest free loan or out of good will they would refuse it. Only if it were David Lloyd would it be turned down IMO. No rugby league club could afford to turn that kind of amount down especially with it being specifically designated for players and stadium development.
I do not honestly believe Mr Allam has done this to stitch anyone up, he is wanting to invest heavily in West Park which will improve Hull FC's training facilities and allow for better corporate hosting (with the Hotel) that could lead to bigger sponsorship deals...etc. If this £1m gets the Allams the votes they need to buy the stadium and land and that then nets Hull FC a massive sponsor worth more than that amount how would this be stitching Hull FC up?
The prospects look gold plated but obviously in life nothing is this simple and there would appear to be an agenda and listening to some people that have close dealings with the Allams he isn't one to take at face value. This being said anyone that is going to spend over £100m on sporting facilities in the city has got to have at least some good in them. Let's give this a chance, sure we as a city have been bitten during the Lloyd era but we all came through that and are all in much healthier positions so I am damn sure any one of the three clubs can come through it again.
