It's very much in context. They're promoting something, and you're whinging about the fact that it's being promoted. If it's getting promoted more than something in the past, surely that's a good thing?

The point is you're being extremely negative and patronising about something that's positive (more promotion of the game) because it doesn't suit you. Taking out the little dig about the game (Mickey Mouse) and comparing it to something in the past (you can improve things over time, you know), basically shows the daftness of what you're saying. I'd say that's a pretty good F'n point.

It is a very valid point. Why make such an effort for this gimmick game, when they did next to nothing for the genuine internationals?

And just so you dont get confused. That isnt to say they shouldnt make the effort for this game. The point is it highlights the poor effort they made for genuine internationals, which had it received the same effort would likely have been more successful.

In 2008 and 2009 weren't these games in France? Possibly half the reason why.
And it's hardly "such an effort" they're putting in by putting a logo on the screen (that was used twice all night and not even acknowledged, and we don't even know whether it is the Overseas team or not). I'm pretty sure they'll have advertised the France games that were played over here on the pitch, on TV, etc. but people might not have noticed them that much.

People have noticed this extremely subtle advertisement because there's a mystique behind it. It's hardly a huge advertising campaign. I can't believe people are trying to find negatives on promoting the game. There's no mystique behind the France team, so it couldn't be promoted in the same way.

Only people with an issue with us playing an overseas select team would try so hard to find criticism. If we weren't promoting it much, no doubt these same people would be whinging about that fact also.

there is no 'mystique' behind an exiles side. The RFL are trying to build it, something they could have done for the france game. For the first time they have done something cost-effective, intelligent and shockingly for them 'good' and its for a gimmick game. Where is this thinking for promoting something that actually matters, SL, the championships, the international game?
Why when clubs are struggling for attendances, there is a recession on, it is a franchise year, a year we re-negotiate our TV deal are we putting what is clearly time and effort building up a pointless gimmick game when the fundamental parts of the game are hardly rolling in visibility.

The criticism is that they are spending time promoting this meaningless game, when genuine and meaningful parts of the game are struggling and were and are in desperate need of that kind of promotion.

I think personally English RL fans want to watch competitive internationals myself, and they haven't been getting them mid-season against the French so they lost interest. There wad a novelty at first, but that slowly died as the scores increased.

The mid season match against the French should be a team made up from the Championship clubs players

Obviously it was very well sold. A real eye-catching marketing plan, really stuck in your mind considering you remember it so well.

No, as i have told you twice now. I have no problem with the RFL spending time and effort promoting a game. In fact i applaud it. My issue is that they have spent time and effort promoting and meaningless gimmick game when there are many more, more fundamental and important parts of the game crying out for exposure. It seems however you have chosen to be too stupid to understand that.

No, but i think a coherent strategy with a long build presenting the game well and as something to be excited about would certainly have done.
