I agree financial clout and facilities should be priority

But wouldn’t whoever gets the 12th spot have a mandatory obligation to field an academy/under 18s?

From a selfless point of view to the game of rugby league in general, I Believe this should be criteria for all top league teams. To help develop the youth not just for their own reward, but for the future of the game.

Keep changing my mind on the situation but in this order, these would be my selection for SL (not necessarily stating this will be the selection)

1. Bradford - if they can move back to Odsal I think they could make a success of it. Good crowds, good history (not significant), always have a good youth development which is important. I’d love to see the Bradford/Leeds derby back. Always looked forward to this and for me would bring a little excitement to a dull league.

2. Toulouse - made a good go at it in the championship. Regularly field many french players. Fits the expansion category and if they can mimic or replicate Catalans in any kind of way, I’m all for it

3. Leigh - signing well for next year. But I don’t think the current squad is a shoe in to avoid relegation. I’m sure Derek would sign a couple of quality players. They seem to have the best finances of the bunch, great facilities and a good set of fans.

Quote: Bullseye "I don't get all this anti Bradford feeling.'"

There is a deep-seated paranoia among Wakefield fans that the governing body or other fans wish them ill. They feel they are perpetually battling threats to their existence. The fixation with the notion of Bradford being advantaged due to preferential treatment (despite it all being pretty much a mirage) is just a symptom of that. I suspect most fans of clubs in the North West are at worst indifferent to us. I imagine for them reading this forum it would be like us Yorkies having to skim past Salford fans sniping at Warrington and thinking how boring it was.

The NCA are investigating the individual who sold the ground to Trinity, not actually investigating Trinity c020.gif
What you posted seemed to be a direct slur on Trinity but, as you appear to be a very bitter Bulls fan, who perhaps hasn't coped well since Trinity beat them in the MPG, we would expect little else.

Has it been a tough few years, Aw, bless.

Judging from the usually well thought out, intelligent posts I've read from you across these forums, I'd say you're better than this. I'm like a disappointed uncle. Now admittedly I'm probably that uncle no one likes to talk about as he's a bit odd, but an uncle nonetheless.

And Bradfords squad will avoid relegation?

No I said (in response to Snowie's suggestion that the promoted team shouldn't get the same central funding as everyone else because of some supposed slight on field that took place over 2 decades ago) that there's been a lot of water under the bridge since 1998 including wakefield going bust twice and facing an NCA investigation into the deal to buy the ground for £3.15m when it was actually valued at £1.7m from a company owned by a man who has since been ordered to hand over £10M in property. The point being two wrongs don't make a right.

That's not a direct slur is it? It's what has actually happened. The rest of your post is a bit childish mate.

Anyway back on topic. It's worth noting that if there is a reduction in the value of the new TV deal Championship clubs are likely to get no central funding from 2022 onwards. This probably explains why so many clubs have applied for what is a bit of a poisoned chalice IMO.

No

My reply is to your whinging why the promoted club will be getting a reduced funding, now I'm not privy to the ins and outs of what has been agreed by the club's but I would surmise that budgets for the teams had been already arranged as they use forward thinking, you on the other hand called all clubs greedy and when reminded of our early entry into the league chose to ignore that so if there is anyone that is being childish it is you.

I'll just add to that you then have a dig at our club to having some kind of criminal activity so please explain what this has to do with the 12th club to be promoted

Maybe the deliberate spelling mistake by a certain poster made a little bit of red mist descend.
The poster in question is seldom seen on here and is usually on the wind up.
In this instance I was more than happy to respond.

Is "Wankfield" appropriate for this forum ?? I didn't think it would be ??

Come on mate I either "chose to ignore that" or replied to your comment prompting a hissy fit.

The point I was trying to make (unsuccessfully as I didn't reckon on you lot still being so easily triggered) was that it was ages ago and I don't agree with continuing to do the wrong thing just because it happened 22 years ago to another club.

I didn't accuse all clubs of being greedy just the two that wanted to reduce the central funding offered further still to 800K.

I also didn't say Wakefield had done anything illegal. That's you again and I must remind you that as the national crime agency investigation is ongoing you've broken the AUP by doing so.

God no. As it stands it would barely trouble the Championship playoffs if you ask me.

I was responding as a concerned uncle not a moderator but no its probably not a good term to use for Wakefield so I've got rid. Anyway would you like a Werthers Original?

Please don't have a hissy fit on my account

Finally you now chose to admit it was wrong eusa_clap.gif taken you 22 years to admit it but at least we're getting there now

Let me remind you it was you that mentioned on page 32 that fetched up the subject which has no reference to what the title is that's why I questioned you, you never have anything positive to say about Wakefield and is obvious you will try and discredit the club at any opportunity in any form

Very sad in my opinion

Bit weird. do you think I'm Chris Caisley or something? I'm not, I had nowt to do with that decision.

I thought it was clear i thought it was wrong when I said that we used to send kids to work in mines but it's not a reason to do it again. i.e. just because we did it before doesn't mean you should keep doing the wrong thing. Unless you agree with sending kids to work down mines. I know Wakefield has gone full scab now and voted in a tory but still.

And the rest of the RL world are STILL paying for Bradford's past mistakes.
As you say, two wrongs dont make a right.

Doing everything (badly) to try and help Bradford last time (or maybe the time before that) was wrong and "promoting" them now would also be wrong.

Every Bradford fan I've spoken to agrees with me that it shouldn't be us. I did say that about 10 pages back.
