When passed forwards, a GPS sensor/accelerometer in the ball should trigger automatically and the ball should explode, maiming the player who catches the ball. Punishes unskillful play and attempted cheating, whilst also making the sport more TV friendly. The ratings would soar. Imagine it, last seconds of the Cup Final, Gigot runs through, passes to Tomkins, it's a mile forward and the ball explodes taking Tomkins with it. Pure entertainment and exactly what sports fans across the globe are crying out for, sick of the rolling round and diving in Premier League football.'"
Sounds like you have been watching seth Mcfarlanes The Orville

It's not a 'matter of opinion' issue. It's a matter of physical fact. He threw the ball backwards, it's clear as day on the video.

No it isn't. He may have attempted to throw the ball backwards but he lost full control, a fact underlined by it being a crap pass.........he may have intended it to go backwards, but it certainly didn't.
As for throwing a tennis ball, rugby ball, tin can or your aunt fanny's cat out of a moving car window, it matters little......the ball bounced 4 meters ahead of where he let go of it and he had slowed down considerably before he threw it......momentum or not, the ball went forward by a large distance that disadvantaged the defending side and therefore should have been referred upstairs as a minimum.
As I have said, London didn't lose because of this decision, but Leeds may well stay up as a consequence.

That sounds good in principle, but what if it's a REALLY bad pass that sails into the crowd? How would clubs cover the cost of compensation with the death toll in double figures?
It's all well and good having these ideas, but you've got to think of the practicalities.

The ball was still behind him when it landed, it was also a shorter distance ahead of Watkins when it landed than when he threw it, so either he slowed down, threw it and then sped up whilst Watkins suddenly found a burst of speed he's not had all season and accelerated 60 metres into his run OR he threw it backwards and you have zero understanding of how any of this works.
Either post a picture that shows the ball leaving his hands forward or stop saying he 'certainly' threw it forwards.
How can people who have watched this much rugby league still not understand how this works?

Go and look at the picture I loaded on page one. The ball bounced IN FRONT OF THE BLOKE THAT PASSED IT.......I didn't photo-shop this, it's a straight screen grab from the highlights available on-line.....

I never said he "certainly" threw it forward....I said he attempted to throw a pass backwards/flat and failed......it was a badly controlled pass that landed ahead of him and the intended recipient and it should have been pinged.....a couple of feet is momentum, 4 meters is a pi55 take!

Okay, have another look at the photo and then realise that the player you think is Sutcliffe (who passed the ball) is actually Briscoe, Sutcliffe is about 2 metres ahead of the ball obscured by a Broncos player.
Other than that though excellent detective work.
Any other 'evidence'?

Can’t see the image you posted but I’ve watched the video and when the ball hits the floor Sutcliffe is bang on the 10m line with 2 London defenders and the ball hits around the 12m mark. So no it doesn’t land in front of him.

The ball lands 4 meters ahead of where he passed it and in front of him....the different shading in the grass cut clearly shows the ball has traveled 4 mtrs forward.....most blokes are 2 meters tall at best, so the length of 2 men ahead of where it left his hands......Dan Marino has passed more laterally

One again, the player you think is Sutcliffe is actually Tom Briscoe. The ball is a good 2 metres behind Sutcliffe who would have done amazingly well to throw a ball forwards at that pace and then overtake it.
Watch the video, even look at the hair colour and you'll see immediately that you're wrong about the ball landing in front of him. It didn't.
The ball landing that far in front of where he passed it is perfectly consistent with the laws of physics. I know facts can be a pain, but they come in very handy.

No the person you think is Sutcliffe in that 2nd picture is actually Briscoe, Sutcliffe is obscured in that picture behind the London defenders on the 10m line as I said. Do another screen shot of when Myler picks the ball up and you’ll see how far ahead Sutcliffe is and how he’s ahead of Briscoe on that far side.

He attempts to throw the pass backwards but loses control as he passes it and leaves his hands forward. So it is not clear as day its subjective and open to opinion. Yours just happens to be wrong.

You still don't seem to understand physics, it doesn't matter where the player that passed it is when the ball hits the ground, all that matters is did the ball leave the hands of the player passing it backwards.
Your screen grabs are not proof of anything other than you don't seem to know what your on about I'm afraid
I've just watched the clip again.
A. You have got the wrong person Sutcliffe is way ahead of where the ball lands.
B. It really wasn't a forward pass - it was a rubbish pass but not forward.
