Humberside is still an area though even if it's not official. In the same way as if somebody said Hull was in the North you wouldn't tell them the North didn't exist.

The North does exist whereas Humberside has been abolished.

Which is why the police are called Humberside Police and the airport is called Humberside Airport? And not East Yorkshire Police and East Yorkshire Airport

Just because it has been officially abolished as county, doesn't mean it doesn't exist as an area still, as rightly pointed out.
