Yes watched on telly, and acknowledged in first line of my post that means you miss what sky don't show. Main point I was making is that several players did stupid things (provoked or otherwise) but it was all worse because the ref did not impose any authority.

My intent was not to have a go at Ben Westwood, would love him in my team. I was highlighting how things escalated because the game was poorly reffed. Ben and others will probably be before Red Hall, the last incident was put on report. It should never have come to that.

Ponder on this Ben Westwood was sin binned with 9 minutes to go - poor reffing led to that, but the sanction was also poor. He went looking for confrontation and threw the first punch. Difficult for the panel to ignore even with provocation. Had he been sent off they could have deemed sending off sufficient, but he was not, there was certainly deliberate striking which is a sending off offence. He probably misses next week which he probably wouldn't had he been sent off. i think that is poor reffing that affects Ben Westwood and Wire?

Silverwood is a strange ref, can sometimes be very good others dreadful. Probably the most variable ref in SL. Ganson, Thaler, Bentham and even Childs would have taken action earlier (not necessarily binning players, but letting them know they are in charge - whether decisions are correct).

Last nights game just drilled something home for me.

For all we can blame money problems, the RFL, club management, recession etc etc for ruining our game, the refs can ruin a game quicker than the speed of light.

If they had billed last night as top of the table clash and new viewers were watching they would have seen bad calls, mass confusion (not helped by the commentators), stupid niggling fighting, poor decision making and a video ref that is like a whispered legend (they say its around but ya never really see much evidence for it).

Complete fiasco.

JOHNNY WHITELEY - A TRUE RUGBY LEAGUE LEGEND:d7dc4b20b2c2dd7b76ac6eac29d5604e_28490.jpg

Quote: GiantDee "Watching on sky, where you do not know what is going on off the ball, there were four significant flashpoints. All ultimately the responsibility of players but none of which seemed to be dealt with well/correctly by the ref. This does lead to frustration from both sets of players and an escalating problem. With better match/player control at the first couple of incidents the later ones probably dont happen.

The incidents I thought were significant were Silverwood was incompetant[/i[/size.'"

High praise indeed for the man in the clown's outfit.

I'm amazed that nobody has picked up on Bosc intentionally headbutting Westwood in the tackle, especially after all the talk of the Mika tackle last week.

At 21:50 seconds into the game is probably the most blatant.

It's shocking that for an accidental headclash you get penalised. But if you go around maliciously nutting blokes in the head you're okay.

As a neutral i've got to agree with everyone else, they went for Westwood all night. As a neutral, I thought it was a cracker of a game because of it. Old school stuff. Loved it.

Brent Webb is a liability and know wonder Leeds got rid of him well before the play offs. Always whinging at the ref and doing things a schoolboy would think was childish. If he got on with the game instead of trying to be Mr Brain Explosion he would be half decent. Still rate Catalan as top four.

And I agree, Westwood looked to bite Webb. I'm more certain that he bit Webb than I was Graham biting Slater, because it was plausible that Graham might have been screaming in his ear.

I'm not sure why Westwood would be shouting directly into Brent Webbs arm.

I blame the players and coaches as they create the tactics, if the players want to niggle they need to accept the consequences. However, when the frustrations boil the ref needs to manage it better than last night. The double sin bin came from the back of two Warrington penalties.

The first penalty was Elima strong tackle on Evans which Westwood got involved in. Was it a penalty? Elima can make a strong tackle if Evans not tackled and wants to stay on the ground. Why is Westwood getting involved? This was the catalyst for the double sin bin and wasn't dealt with.

He got involved as Olivier chose to swing his arm and fist into Evans face when he was defenceless on the floor.

Them on the next penalty oliver decided to hold down the wire player and push his head into his face, as well as another dragon putting their hand in the call carriers face.

If Westwood had bitten Webb then don't you think that we would have heard something about it by now? Strange that no-one else saw it apart from you.

First thing I said (and posted a few pages back) when I saw the side angle replay was it looked like Westwood bit him. He stuck his face into Webb's arm, there was a moment of contact and Webb whipped his arm away even though the tackle wasn't complete.

Others have said the same thing to me. No, there's no proof and Webb should have made a complaint if it happened, but that's what it looked like.

I for one minute don't like Westwood. I think he's a dirty <Insert expletive here>. However when he and Webb were going at it, I just wanted him to pulverize that little t**t Webb. Horrible player and for me, our game would be better off without the whinging t**t

It was.

Webb is a fantastic player who will go very well with Catalan this year. At some of Leeds most inconsistent periods the last two years he was our most creative player.

However, his attitude and discipline was becoming a worry, culminating in his final game for Leeds away to Wakefield where he was subbed and didn't play again the rest of the year.

"The Golden Generation finally has its Golden Fleece! They have Wembley Cup Final winners medals to add to their collection." 23/08/2014:

It was actually Hudds at home in 2007 when he was sin binned twice. First for fighting with Paul Reilly and the second for dissent (yes shocking I know).

Against Harlequins in 2007 he was put on report twice and sin binned the once.
