Whilst the statement has silenced a couple of trolls/idiots, people are finishing work and going home.
It's great that Wakey have avoided the winding up order, but their finances must still be on shaky ground given that IIRC they didn't spend up to the full cap last year and had to sell one their better players to meet their debts.
Hopefully their position will improve over time now. The new stadium is (obviously) vital for Wakey's long term future.

Or how about Wakey deciding they didn't want to spend the full cap because they decided to spend what they needed to, rather than splashing out to the max just because the rules say they can. It wasn't exactly an unsuccessful season by Wakey's standards.
The finances at BV are in the best state they have been for a number of years and once the planning permission for the new stadium is granted later this year our future in SL will be secured for many years to come

Wakey weren't spending up to the cap and obviously didn't have the spare cash to do so. It's widely known that Atkins was sold to help pay off the debt to HMRC, so I don't think what I put was unreasonable.

That might be the case, but Wakey obviously weren't awash with cash if they had to issue more shares to increase the amount they spend on players. No you're right it was a good season for Wakey, and hopefully they can move on from this, but in the short and medium its going to be very difficult for them to make a profit until the new stadium is up and running for a few years, and it doesn't take much (a drop in crowds or not making the playoffs) to have a big effect on finances at this level.
Im not having a go at Wakefield, I really really hope they do well, but they still need to be very careful.

If you think that not being able to pay the full salary cap or having to sell players to pay off HMRC isn't relevant then you just cover your ears and sing to yourself if it makes you feel better. I tried to post something reasonable, why don't you give it a go too.

| i think this is called balancing the books. its what business s have to do in the real world. the fact is that no team in superleague (to my knowledge) is bringing in enough money to spend the full salary cap and are instead going cap in hand to their sugar daddies or racking up huge debts. hardly an impressive business model.
personally think more clubs should be run this way. it used to be called cutting your cloth to suit

| Great news.
Really glad Wakefield have managed to see this off.
Now hope the club cab move on and progress on and off the field for the sake of the fans if nobody else.

seconded!
Amazing just how petty and negative RL fans can be.......we should all want the same thing....the Game to flourish and grow....and we should do anything we can to help achieve it.
For example, look at me....
I am agreeing with a cottage burning, sheep worrying, over quota, supporter of a team full of aussies that stole Widnes place in Superleague...all for the good of the game
