| WTF was Bateman doing throwing the ball at Hanbury at the end?
Widnes were very good tonight again, don't make many mistakes and play the game in the right areas. I thought again Wigan were a bit wasteful with the ball.
In terms of individuals I thought Dudson was outstanding and think that could be the last of Sarginson at fullback. At least Tierney was solid.

Matty Smith should also have had a yellow card for his trip

| What a thoroughly enjoyable game.
I didn’t really care who won, it was just a good contest, that was until Smith didn’t get ten minutes for the trip, followed by Flower?
A Widnes loss would have been cruel, a draw & they would have been hard done to, they really deserved that.
I felt there was a little redemption when Smith knocked-on near the end & the Wigan players having little strops after the hooter, but I guess they were just “annoyed” to have lost their home record, I wish my team had the same passion.

yeah i thought that should have been a yellow too. think a trip goes largely on the refs interpretation nowadays. used to be an auto red card (which i always thought was a bit harsh)

| While my team is strugling & holding up the table it's realy nice to see the Wire doing well & playing a refreshing style of rugby, it has restored my faith in the game for a while. Just hope our chairman will put faith in our coach to come right & give him & the team some time to rebuild & find a bit of the same team spirit. I also hope the fans will give them some slack as well. But in the mean time I will enjoy Widnes shaking up the top teams if only for a while.

| Ref was a bit lenient with Wigan, there was three times a player should have been sinbinned, Smith for the trip, Club for the knock down and Manfrani (Spelling) when he dived on the ball in an offside position.
The right result in the end, excellent team effort from Widnes, who play such a good style of rugby, no superstars, just play for each other, well done Betts and the team.
Hard to see them not making the 8 now.

You say no superstars, but they have the best halves combination in the league. And arguably the best half too in brown.

Ref did the right thing. Wigan would have improved if he had gone off.

I thought Brown was a bit off last night, probably trying too hard when it just needed a cool head at times. No doubt he is a quality player though.

| I didn't think either half back for widnes were as good as they have been. I few Mellor runs aside. I thought the pack and Hanbury were outstanding.

| That was a cracking game - I wish they were all like that.
I'm baffled how Wigan got away with what they did - grist to the mill for those people who think that 'big' teams get the rub of the green; by my reckoning they should have had three players in the bin. If they'd nicked it at the end, Widnes would have just cause to feel cheated. Perhaps Matty Smith knew that, so spilled the pass on purpose?
Hats off to both sides though - from a neutral perspective, it was a belter.

Smith, Clubb and Manfredi should all definitely have been off for 10 in the 2nd half. Arguably Gelling too, with an additional 2 points to Widnes from the "8 point try" that should have been awarded.
