| Do people not think 12 teams will increase the week in week out intensity, no?
Playoffs we go down to top 5 most likely, which will mean a serious battle between huddersfield, leeds, wigan, saints, hull, catalans and warrington for the best places, some of those teams will miss out.
Then the other teams will be seriously scrapping to avoid relegation.
People moan about meaningless games and the credibility of the playoffs but this will surely help with both of those issues.

| I agree with SL going to 12. Don't want to see the 8 x 3 option coming in though, it's not a good look in my op. Want to see the bottom English club in SL having a play-off with GF winners from the Championship. And CC Final the last match of the season on first Sat. of October. SL Grand Final on second Saturday of Sept.

| Are all of you agreeing the league should be 12 teams absolute idiots?
Clubs are struggling for money as it is. How do they make money? By playing games at home.
We need a minimum of 14 teams and 2 cup competitions to help them do this.

| Boom and bust never went away Headhunter. Did you sleepwalk through the Bradford/Wakefield/Celtic/Salford meltdowns? It clearly wasn't working.

Send in your CV , I' m sure they'll be happy to let you run their clubs

The intensity will reduce because half the clubs will fill their squads with substandard overseas players and be unable to progress in any way due to investing everything to stave off the threat of relegation for another year. And of course one team will be cobbled together from scratch at short notice. We're on the verge of having a SL competition where every club has a legit change of not only making the play-offs but making an iimpact, and we're throwing it all away.

Rich man takes easy way to make more money is hardly the worlds biggest shock.
Many SL clubs aren't in dire financial straights, the game plays the poor man far too often and some fall for it because it fits their bias. Leeds, Wigan, saints, wire, hull are not poor. Hudds, les Catalans, Salford, Widnes, are not on the breadline. These aren't weak or struggling clubs. But I'm sure they wouldn't mind a free £250k

It's the SL chairmen and RFL leadership. The RFL are much more likely to have the chairmen on side with some free money and less competition

That isn't boom and bust, that's the inevitable result of years of mismanagement by incompetent administrators. It's something that was necessary for the sport to progress, Wakefield, Salford and Bradford are all far better off now.

Changing the structure of the league will not change anything in the long term. The real aim should be to improve the quality of the player pool, and the teams involved in the comp as a whole. Unfortunately, there is no quick fix for this so it seems the clubs have pussied out and gone for the easy option that will take some of the attention away from the real problems which lie with a lot of the clubs individually rather than the structure of the leagues.

| Quote: headhunter "Why is this happening? Why are we going back to a system that was unsuccessful for years?'"
was it unsuccessful?
We only had a few years of 12 team league, promotion and relegation with top 5 playoff system. (Which is what the new system would most likely entail) Wasn't it 98 to 2001 we had those things?
People look at the negatives, always with the negatives. Think of how much the championship leagues would thrive again with P & R, rather then staring into the abyss those teams would have a genuine chance of ''the dream''.
Think of the week in week out intensity. It seems to be the fans opposed to this will be the ones of teams in and around the bottom of the league, who suddenly don't have that saftey net.

| Apparently the two relegated clubs will receive parachute payments of around £500k each.

This won't have an effect on that.
