| Being a young 'un I can only speak from 1999ish onwards. My list in no particular order and with (hopefully no Leeds bias);
Dave Furner- hard as nails
Shontayne Hape- Make my life misery as a young Leeds fan misery, appreciate him now though.
Lesley Vainikolo- See above
Ali Lauitiiti- one of the most consistantly exciting players
Willie Poching- solid servant to all he played for, not spectacular but gave everything he had
Stanley Gene- again not spectacular but a legend in his own right
Jamie Lyon- great ball handler, kicker, all round RL player. Still doing it at the highest level today
Joe Vagana- Part of the Awesome Foursome at Bradford, a 130kg wrecking ball.
Steve Renouf- one of the greatest centres ever FULLSTOP
Brett Dallas- another tough cookie, with lighting pace
There have been great players to play in Super League e.g. Stacey Jones, Andrew Johns, Danny Buderus but I don't feel they contributed enough to the English game to warrent a place on my list. Just opinion

| Only going to speak for Widnes, but the following were extraordinary for us at various points over my years of watching the Chemics:
Kurt Sorensen
Dale Shearer
Emosi Koloto
Esene Faimalo
Robert Relf

Must mantion
Steve Ella (Wigan & Wakefield)
Kurt Sorenson (Widnes)'"
I did linger a long time over whether I put both those in my list.
Loved watching Ella at Wakefield when he and Mark Graham played

| Since 1993, that I've seen live, in England
Robbie Paul - Slight bias as I've watched him virtually all his career and he is my favourite player ever, and will have seen at least 95% of his games for Bradford
Jamie Lyon - Different class at Saints
Lesley Vainikolo - Try machine, when fully fit he was unstoppable
Steve Renauf - Good player in his season at Wigan
Frano Botica - One of the best goal kickers I've seen, points machine
Trent Barrett - Was immense for Wigan in a poor side
Henry Paul - When paired with Robbie they were a joy to watch
Danny Gartner - Not an obvious choice, but a massive part of the Bulls pack, when we were at our most dominant between 01-03
Allan Langer - Probably picked on reputation, but do remember him having a good game against us in 2000
Adrian Lam - Quality for Wigan

I went for SL era. When they were at their best Vainikolo, Hape, the Pauls, Jones & Lyon were all world class.

| Quote: PopTart "I assume we are talking about players we have seen play live for clubs over here....otherwise we'll just end up picking our best Aussie test team.
Since Late 70s
Wally Lewis (Wakefield)
Peter Sterling (Hull)
Brett Kenny (Wigan)
James Leuluai (Hull and Wakefield)
Les Boyd (Warrington)
Henry Paul (Wakefield and Wigan)
Mal Meninga (St Helens)
Ian Roberts (Wigan)
Lesley Vainikolo (Bradford)
Gene Miles (Wigan)
I'd add many others if we included touring sides like Ray Price and Steve Rogers but this list will do for now.'"
That really is a cracking set of players.

Steve Rogers played club rugby over here, if only for 15 minutes.

Stacey Jones

Lesley Vainakolo
Brett Dallas
David Furner
Adrian Vowles
Robbie Paul.
A slight Bradford bias, but i've chosen overseas signings, not just players. People that have done a lot for their clubs.

I know. I was really looking forward to seeing him play but obviously I couldn't say he was best I saw at such a short stint. Thought he was one of the best classy centres I've seen though when he played SOO and for Aussies tourists

“We will not accept a top eight finish as a barometer of supposed success at any point in the future whilst I am the owner of this club.
Thats why you got the Bullet Agar...Adam Pearson wants winners...not useless gits like you.
"Rugby League is a simple game played by simple people. Rugby Union is a complex game played by wankers." L.Daley 2005: |
|
| Suprised no ones put Jason Smith, was with us for 4 years, the 1st 2 seasons he was simply superb....single-handely destroyed Leeds and Gave a master-class on loose forward play at Wigan when we drew there, his last 2 seasons was wracked by injuries but a truly superb Ball playing 13.
