I'd say he makes it up as he goes along, say it enough times and you'll believe it yourself works for him.

Hi Wayne......
mh.com.au/sport/nrl/wolfpack-billionaire-in-mix-for-share-as-storm-change-ownership-model-20200220-p542qn.html
[iMelbourne Storm has radically changed its ownership structure, with majority shareholder Bart Campbell halving his stake and negotiations opening with David Argyle, the billionaire mining magnate owner of the Toronto Wolfpack, to take a share[/i.
I read it up (no I didn't make it up) that Argyle reckons the $30 Million he has sunk into wolfpack was all he and his family could afford. If he's worth a $Billion at least he still has $970 Million spare. So what is going on? Well I read it up (no I didn't make it up) that Argyle is taking his $Billions to Melbourne Storm. Do me a favour mate. Look these things up for yourself so you can see the reality

| Breaking News Statement from Super League
Following Toronto Wolfpack’s withdrawal from Betfred Super League 2020 earlier this week, the Super League Board agreed this afternoon that the club’s record for this season should be removed.
Points earned in matches involving Toronto Wolfpack will be deducted, and for and against tallies will be adjusted accordingly.
Individual players’ statistics will remain unaffected - but Man of Steel points earned in fixtures involving the club will be erased.
Super League and The RFL Board will now give further consideration to Toronto Wolfpack’s future ahead of the 2021 season.

Well Wayne is on toast yet again, but the more important thing is the truth and the facts. As a Billionaire, $$30Million was nothing to Argyle, but if that is how much it costs to get a Transatlantic NA team into Superleague just to come rock bottom then what would it have took to see them carry on for several seasons more to try to establish themselves, let alone 20 seasons more to establish a Canadian grass roots game and player development? Now that IS about a $$Billion dollars.
It begs the question, posed when Wilby and Perez turned up with no rich owners in tow launching New York and Ottawa. If their clubs are treading the same pioneering path good old David Argyle trod they need to find people to give them $$ tens of Millions with no prospect of return. Anyome want to answer that one? Having tracked David Argyles spend and return at Toronto which North Americans would throw oceans of money down the drain for a game foreign to them?
Wayne's a great bloke I am sure, but some of the people promoting these phoney clubs in the RL press should know better and should have called it all out for exactly what it is..............................Oh sorry for exactly what it was. It was a bit of fun for Argylle and Perez whilst melbourne Storm or another NRL club gave Australian RL fan and $$Billionaire investor David Argyle his real dream. A place on the board of an Australian NRL club.

| Huge story from John Davidson
The Roosters knew Toronto withdrawing from SL 2 week ago throwing everything said since and especially today into blatant lies. Davidson is ploughing a lone furrow as it seems the other RL media are only reporting on fake positive spin with totalrl a disgrace. In particular. This must nail the failed franchise

Thats what owning a sports club is like isn't it? There aren't too many making cash out of it in RL, and the only return for some is a day out at Old Trafford or Wembley.

It's interesting to read that there may be a short term NRL deal put to SBW for the some part of 2020. I thought that SL rules had stopped the practice of Australians who had finished their season then plying their trade over here. So how come it would work the other way round?

It's covered in detail in the article Davidson reports on. Truly the Smoking Gun and strips what little credibility today's charade presentation had. Game Over

Suppose it is now just find me 1,800,000 Toronto fans willing to buy them at £100 each

But surely that’s the type of ‘solid’ expansion the RFL is after?
It can ‘trumpet’ about the 1.8 million new RL fans in Canada if Ottawa and New York do the same local derbies at major US stadiums, how can TV resist a new sport with 4 million supporters....
And I’ll show my bare b*m on the Town Hall steps if anything ever comes of these stupid ideas it’s time the RFL woke up and smelt the ‘coffee’
The last week has proved SBW is more important than UK rugby league .... even if it’s only four games and some play offs...
It’s a very sad position to look at for me...

It was way back in February when Argylle had his dream chance to buy in at Melbourne Storm. Any gentleman would surely look to transition from one club to another without doing what he did and pulling the plug on TWP half way through a season. Especially causing distress to the players Looking at it now I don't believe Perez or Argyle were ever "expansionists".
YES your right TotalRL ran with it as did League Weekly forever trumpeting this new dawn. I would not mind but these RL publications surely had a duty to their largely traditional readership to be a bit more realistic, and report a bit more accurately rather than be a fanfare for a phoney club that would badly damage the game.
Sure Superleague rightly refused to put the red carpet out and refused the idea of taking in phoney clubs, but what they DID do was a deal with Rimmer that gave TWP entry to Superleague and that was a really strange and damaging thing to do. TWP never had an automatic right to promotion as a guest club but the reports were Rimmer conceded an end to the Middle eights and MPG in return for TWP's promotion.
Did Superleague think that they could just handle TWP by leaving them to struggle in bottom place then go back down again? Did Superleague not know Argyle was looking to go to melbourne? In letting them in it gave Argylle a chance for revenge by him pulling the plug half way through the season. [iWas the lack of attention to the important issue of visas just an "oversight" did Argyle really "run out of money"[/i
I think not, Argyle got his revenge big time and has gone on to rub it in by suggesting he'll be back in February (a wordplay on the Terminator ). IMHO it wasn't a bad idea to let them in the game but it was a terrible mistake to let them in Superleague. Brian Carney on behalf of SKY is pretty scathing so you can bet the SKY bosses are as well. A naive and terrible mistake by Superleague............

That's as difficult as finding another one person willing to sink some millions into Toronto. I take your point, as you did mine.
