That Wakefield is still probably smaller. Halifax on its own is 82000 (although I have noted that this is including Illingworth), Wakefield including Stanley et al is 102,000.

Cas is roughly the same distance away from Leeds but we're not a small town in Leeds.

Suggest you check what a postcode stands for on the Royal Mail. Nothing to do with location, just nearest Royal Mail Distribution Centre, i.e. in this case it's Wakefield.

Places in Norfolk have a Peterborough postcode. Doesn't mean it's in Peterborough does it?

I've got no problem with Castleford having a bit of identity, but like Hunslet, they are part of a bigger City! People from Hunslet will say they are from Hunslet but no one would deny that Hunslet is in Leeds!

Castleford is looked after by Wakefield Council, their municipal services are provided by Wakefield, they are Governed by Wakefield council, they are a ward of Wakefield, they have WF postcodes and so on and so on.....

We aren't talking about some Village miles away from its parent City here, Castleford is one of the small subsidiaries of Wakefield, I don't see the issue other than Club rivalry. I have family that live in Cas who have no rugby league tainted prejudices and they'll openly say that Castleord is a small Town in the wider City of Wakefield.

I have no gripe with Tigers fans who want to be seen as separate from the parent City of Wakefield but that's just fan rivalry.
