Dont know what the ref said to him as he sent him off but, it doesn't matter.
There is no place for that in our sport or any other and a sine die ban is the only outcome for RL.
What happens as far as the player and the ref goes will probably be up to the ref.
Truly shocking but, it was a cracking punch.

So does anyone know what happened to the player? Has he been arrested for assault?
And does anyone know how bad the ref is? That could have easily broken his jaw. It's not the strength of the punch it is that it is a cheap shot that isn't expected so is undefended.

"The player not only undermined the physical integrity of a referee, Benjamin Casty, but also tainted the image of a sport that had not experienced such a reprehensible act," said a spokesman.
"FFR XIII is determined not to grant any forgiveness to players, leaders or supporters who do not respect the decisions of a referee, whose difficult role is measured every weekend."
A video of the incident went viral when it appeared on YouTube and Ouedjdi could face more trouble, with Casty bringing a civil complaint. |
