video ref
Decisions to be no longer than 60 seconds. The length of time is getting ridiculous - if in doubt we already go with the attacking side but we can go to refs call as well.
On report decisions can be reviewed by the video ref as play continues within 5 minutes. If inconclusive then can be reviewed later by panel.

One game one ref, use the big screen but only the ref on the field make a call.
The report point i fully agree with, look on the screen and make the decision straight away

| All Junior RL to be moved to the summer. There would be a 5 metre gap between attack and defence at the play the ball to try and imrpove ball skills and to minimise the impact if tackles. I would have bonus points for tries that come from three or more passes, to try and discourage teams from simply giving the ball to the biggest kid all the time.
The Challenge Cup semi finals should be a double header. This way you could make it into a real event to encourage as many people as possible to attend. I would also move the Challenge Cup back to the beginning of the season, as in August teams should be focusing on making the playoffs and the Challenge Cup Final is a distraction.
I would also go back to the top five system as it will be more of a test of consistency to make the playoffs.
The World Club Challenge should alternate between England and Australia.

| A player who represents one country should NEVER, under any circumstances (except the creation of a new country) be allowed to represent another. Just like in football.
Mid-season international tours.
Central contracts.
Pre-season 'Champions League' style tournament involving the top 3 clubs in the NRL and SL. Played in Australia!

| One central school of excellence taking the best 50 14-18 yr olds from all clubs with the best coaches at the helm. Also with education at the centre, ie. If you don't pass exams you get kicked out.
Club trained youth players have only 50% of there wage on the cap as long as they stay at that club.

So you're basically saying fantastic young rugby players would be booted out your academy if they're below par academically? Suddenly the RFL seem uber competent.

| Maybe 3 regional academies. have all the scouts working directly for the RL, players signed to the academies getting the best coaching. have a draft system like the NFL worst team getting 1st pick.
Split the league into West and East
playoffs top 3 from each side.
get tag rugby on all the school syllabuses GCSE P.E.

| I think there are too many tries scored from kicks these days, and these tries tend to be far less exciting than ones scored with the ball in hand. I would therefore like to see tries scored from kicks worth less points than those scored with ball in hand.

maybe no conversion attempt if the try is scored from a kick?

| By that logic does Bosc's try mean less because he kicked it twice on the way to scoring?

| A 4 team tounament comprising Lancashire, Yorkshire, Wales and France.
This could be a way to create competitive Lancs/Yorks matches that have been mentioned several times in this thread, and France/Wales aren't outclassed by England.

| Quote: Catalancs "Quote: Catalancs "A RFL freeview channel. They cost very little to run and potentially expose the vast majority of the country to the game.
It could run from 9am till maybe midnight. A Super League show/Boots'n'All/Footy Show programme twice a week (maybe Mondays and Fridays) which could be repeated on other days. Every night a classic match ala ESPN. Amateur club of the week.
The are so many possibilities with regard to content. I'm sure some of you could come up with more ideas than me.'"
Quote: Catalancs "Sounds good but this sort of thing would have to turn a profit. The RFL won't have the money it needs, even if it is very little, to throw at it.'" I'm reliably informed by people working in the media that these freeview channels cost very little to run.
Quote: Catalancs "Plus you have the issue with broadcast rights. If Sky don't want to be involved, then it's a non-starter.'" Something that could be included in the next contract negotiations. It doesn't have to be Super League.
Quote: Catalancs "On the plus side, you're not exactly short of content - Old games from Micron Video and the BBC archives, for instance, and it can't be too hard to get a few aspiring presenters together fairly cheapo, and old RL players keen to get into the media.'" Exactly what I was thinking.
Quote: Catalancs "Certainly RL fans would watch it, I'm sure. Getting new viewers would be harder and the real expense would be in promoting the station to those who wouldn't naturally watch RL.'" Word of mouth and pure chance. Sports fans will watch most sports. I've found myslef watching cycling, weightlifting and strongest man when there's nothing else on. How many people spend large parts of the day watching the same news repeated over and over again on Sky Sports News simply because it's sport?'"
I'm going to write a letter to the RFL about this freeview channel. I'd appreciate if others could help be fine tune it before I set it down and send it.
