Quote: Mr Dog "If the procedures under which SL has restarted allow players (and other members of their households, to go out shopping, and seemingly to pubs judging by posts on SM, then they really aren't fit for purpose.'"

Are players Wives, Girlfriends, Boyfriends etc. not permitted to go to work either? Our players don't earn enough for their partner not to work, or get a live in Nanny etc for childcare. There is only so much they can do to protect themselves. Daily testing needed to be a priority

Adam Pearson has just been on the radio. He said that initially, they think that it has come from a player's young newborn baby, who had to be admitted to hospital. The player had some rehab on an injury on Saturday which looks like it passed to a physio, and gone from there.

I think the RFL/Superleague need to take a tougher stance on what is expected of the players. I’ve just read a young Cricketer from Kent has been stood down for a game and told to isolate after taking a selfie with a fan, after he’d just scored 200+ runs in an innings. The kid is 19, had just put in the performance of his life and in the elation forgets himself and takes a picture with a fan and that’s how tough the sport will be on them. You compare that to us and it’s laughable really. Players out on the lash, players at football clubs fans mass gatherings to celebrate trophy wins/promotions and so on. The players have been great in taking pay cuts across the board but as a collective I think this new players Union really needs to get them all in zoom meetings and the like and discuss just how serious this situation could be if they don’t make more sacrifices.

If that is the case then seems inevitable some Salford players will develop it also?
If Pearsons theory is correct then at least it's not been introduced from a players daft antics like some speculated. The facts will come out either way.

The Salford tests came back negative, but 11 players have to self isolate for 14 days

Then SL shouldn't have restarted.

实事求是!:

End the season. Award sintellins the grand final and CC because they'd probably win it anyway. Reintroduce relegation and relegate Catalans. Re-admit toronto with severe restrictions. 75% of all income needs to be divvied up amongst the rest of the super league and they start each season -10 points. Make it 11 a side, with 27 minute halfs.

I mean, the season is already a total farce isn't it?

Can Castleford play Catalan (or Hull KR) this week to reduce fixture congestion further down the line?

This will happen again you would think, and if a team is going to miss two weeks of fixtures there will be an incredible backlog unless we can apply some flexibility to scheduling.

That would be a sensible move but we are talking about the rfl

All Salford players and staff are now in quarantine. Sensible move by the club.

Under the guidelines, information that could identify anyone testing positive shouldn't be released. Pearson has clearly broken that confidentiality and could be in hot water.

You may be correct but think him making the statement promptly shouldn't be punished and can't see it troubling any prosecution tbh.
He's given his opinion with the facts we dont have access to yet so il take his word.
The truth will be found either way

Unless he had permission from the player (and his partner) he's broken pretty strict rules on the confidentiality of medical information covered by not only the sport's protocols but privacy laws. I suspect he was trying to prove his players hadn't been behaving irresponsibly without stopping to think about the consequences of doing so.

Surely people need to know who has tested positive in case anybody has been near to them? If I'd been in a restaurant with any Hull player over the weekend then I'd like to know if any of them were the ones who had tested positive as I would then need to isolate and get tested myself.
