That was my point. Nobody who calls someone an imbecile or an idiot actually means the people they aim it at are actually mentally retarded. They're just more socially acceptable words than calling someone a c**t.
Just like Clarke hasn’t related Hull’s form with the mental illness that used to be called Manic Depression. He’s just highlighting they go from one extreme to the other.
