| Sorry Printer but I disagree, DA is ultimately responsible for the club, that`s the difference here.

| I feel like I'm wading into muddy ground here, but without having being present during the conversation, I read the comments as a slight against Swinton as a town. ie. a joke in poor taste that they are ignorant and a bit backwards. It's the kind of thing you might say to a mate as a joke, but it's totally inappropriate to someone you're just meeting in a professional capacity. He should be rightfully embarrassed, but for me the apology is enough.
As someone who is mixed race, who has gone to live games regularly for the last 15 years, I'm amazed to say I've never seen even the slightest bit of racism. I think we're pretty good as a sport for it. Watching the BBC's codebreakers docu I think shows partly why.
If these are the kind of comments we have to - rightfully - discuss, then we're doing ok. I despair when I look at the state of football, where racism is completely ingrained!
Stupid comment by Argyle, I'm sure it won't happen again. Lets move on.

| I'm sure a fine will be on the cards as the RFL rarely misses a chance to gather some coffers for its self, it will also have to be seen that there has been some sort of discipline has been dished out as it leaves a precedence for it to happen again without being penalised, you can't ignore it

So you are interpreting the phrase 'do they allow black people in Swinton' as actually meaning 'ignorant and a bit backwards' an interesting interpretation and appears as insulting as the original remark.

| The RFL have the opportunity and can nip it in the bud by making an example of Argyle. Unlike football, who just make teams wear kick it out warm up tops and do social media blackouts.

No it’s not regardless of how much you want it too be. Incidents involving multiple members of the fan base is different to one individual within the club who the RFL have the power to punish individually unlike they do with fans.

| Personally I think when a club official breaks the rules in any sense it should be the club that receives a punishment (alongside that individual if needs be). I’d exclude players from that because the vast majority of player discretions are on the field and can be dealt with that way, which also punishes the club.
However, the RFL has already set precedent for club officials in punishing them personally. Be it fines for coaches or for instance with Hull and the doping investigation a few years back.

If an overweight player had gone over and he said do they let 'fat gets' into Swinton would we be seeing something similar? Im just curious as to where the line is. Is the line, don't poke jokes or have a dig at people, or are there 'no go areas', possibly race, sexuality.....Just curious'"
Most* people are fat because they’re lazy and/or eat too much.
Everyone’s race is fixed. Their ethnicity is their identity. The history of their people is attached to their skin colour. That doesn’t matter what scale of brown they are on the skin spectrum from Northern European “white” to Sub-Saharan African “black” (we’re all a scale of brown really). Any discrimination or prejudice by anyone or any group of people towards anyone else or any other group of people due to their ethnicity/race is just backwards. That way of thinking belongs back in the 1950s, like sexism too.
*some people do have problems with their pituitary gland that makes them gain weight, or even depression that can lead to weight gain. But let’s be honest, people are usually fat because they can’t look after themselves and physical activity and a proper diet is not part of their lives.

That was just one example, it could be any feature; physical, emotional, past history, sexuality..... where is the line?

Well, no pal, you’re the one who said it. What a tool he seems!
From when the Greeks used to call Northern Europeans “Barbarians”, to some of the wars over ethnicity that still go on around the world today; racism has always been a problem in human history and it never ends well.
For someone to still be using derogatorily racist slurs or making derogatorily racist comments in 2019, it just shows the lack of education and understanding of human history and a lack of empathy towards other humans.

Maybe it's cultural. Listen to the Aussie cricket commentators they refer to Pakistan cricket team as 'Pakis', something you would never hear in UK.

The line for me is where you cannot change something. So holding prejudices against race/ethnicity, disability, gender or sexuality is wrong. That’s what the Nazis stood against so should tell you all you need to know.

That’ll just be because they won’t have had that word linked to it being derogatory like it was in Britain.
To the Aussies, “Paki” might be as innocent as saying “Argies” or “Afghans” or “Turks”.
They aren’t saying it as a negative.
What Argyle said is not innocent though. He’s voiced a question about whether Swinton allows black people to live/work there.
