| Tbf the Leeds lady player tonight was ok as a pundit..I sort of agree with Post in soccer particularly the lady ex players pundits are wooden and only in the gig because they are female. The short haired ex England striker Smith? Is awful in her role imo. No problem with equality but it doesn't seem to go both ways in modern life? So I sort of get the OPs point but was probably worded a bit clumsily? Failing that I'm not getting involved in a ding dong over it

| Quote: Mr. Zucchini Head "First of all you don't need to have played to a high standard to be knowledgeable and insightful about the game. I never played any higher than the Hull and District league but I am certain that I am more knowledgeable about the modern game than plenty of ex professionals.
Secondly, it's about the image we want to portray to viewers and sponsors. We need to appear more inclusive and forward thinking to appeal to a broader spectrum. It might seem like tokenism, but it is important to portray that image.'"
This is so true, to my knowledge Dave Woods has not played any serious rugby but has an obvious love and knowledge of the game and can commentate well!

Are you serious about being 'ahead of our time'? In Australia the first female side line commentator started in 1984! In the NRL currently we have female assistant referees and in the reserve league we have female referees. On NRL programmes we have panels of women discussing NRL and females heading panels of male pundits.
Also one of the biggest areas of growth in Sport in Aus is in the female games of RL, Rugby, AFL and Football.
Finally the lady player from Leeds on the Sky panel tonight did very well. More of it for me.

Well wrote. The lady who presents the Aus matches is excellent imo? Bearing in mind we have Barry and Tez and sometimes JJB the men's pundits aren't exactly blessed with TV talent..

20333_1393344959.gif Current thoughts - Mago out or get running up them plantations, get fit or get rid.
Maybe a back up halfback, someone with a bit of experience on a short term deal.
Big tall strong running second rower, like a McMeekin or Sironen type back rower.:d7dc4b20b2c2dd7b76ac6eac29d5604e_20333.gif |

Yeah it probably was worded clumsily but I’ve got an excuse, I played prop all my life. Thanks for being brave enough to speak your mind.

The problem is Post, that you judge her on the standard of the league she plays in rather than how good she is.
The shoehorning in thing is real I agree across all sports but not for women.
When the Olympics or WC is on we see lots of new people, many brought in for who they are rather than their knowledge and presenting skills.
Some go on to make something of it. Some don't.
It's not a gender thing.
Personally I thought the new presenter was a good addition. When asked about who she thought would win she gave a great response why she chose who she chose and when talking about the game she clearly had knowledge and clearly made judgement calls on the actual game rather than churning out standard lines.
In my opinion she is already above some of the summarises on sky/BBC so I hope she does more.

| Usual clichés and not a lot to offer IMO. Lois Forsell really showed Clarke up.

| Literally only there to make themselves look like they’re being contemporary and to tick the diversity box but because of the dross they already have on there half the time she’s slotted straight in and doesn’t look out of place.
She’s got about as much insight as Terry or Barrie and they played at the highest level. There’s blokes down the pub with more insight than those two though and there’ll be women who haven’t played and just spectators of the game with more than her too.

| I think the one sport that does it right is horse racing. Both genders seem knowledgeable and grown up within the sport. Couple of comedy types but mostly very slick presenters. Sky/ITV have got it spot on imo.Even the ex jockeys add to the show McCoy Fitz etc and of course the lady jockeys are going great guns which makes their sport look miles ahead in the Ladies sport revolution.

| I thought Lois was excellent. She appeared to grow in confidence during the show and made some really articulate and well-informed points.

| Quote: post "It seems like the RL commentary team are going the same was as football and crow barring a female rugby league player on the panel.
Now women’s rugby league is no better than the worst men’s league so why have them on? I get football because it isn’t a bad standard, but the RL is. What insight can a woman have who’s played a handful of games at a low standard have over a Superleague player or ex-player for that matter like say Lee Briers, Tommy Martyn, Leon Pryce, Lee Crooks, Garry Schofield etc.
Anyone’s else agree?
Please don’t just call me a masogynist, come up with a factual response if you disagree.'"
"WHEN ARE WE GOING TO HAVE AN INTERNATIONAL MEN'S DAY, EH?!"
What a load of tripe - by your standards, a massive proportion of the people who commentate and comment on sport in this country would be out of a job - and this forum would be like a ghost town, since your qualifying criteria seems to be that one has to have played the game at a level equal to, or higher, than the people you are commenting on? Do you have a view on Eddie for example, who by his own admission, has never thrown a pass in anger?
I thought it was a positive move - and regardless of the specific individual, it would be no bad thing if the Sky team were more diverse going forward.
And men - if you're thinking of typing or saying that it was good because she's nicer to look at than the men, well done for spectacularly missing the point.
