I hope so. I understand the reticence of fans to a ground share but I think it’s the best option for both clubs. It would have to be done properly though with due respect paid to both clubs in the design and layout of the stadium.

Castleford's isn't that bad. Who are you trying to kid.

Best ground in league. Not a quality standard but close to the pitch, great atmosphere and good views all round.

I agree. Unfortunately like Wakefield it's also too old.
Belle Vue has held over 37k supporters in the past. If the stands could be brought back and concrete improved it could be great again. But it needs money and we don't have any.
I'm pleased the thread has stayed sensible (though thanks to Durham for keeping it that way)
The OP knows full well what the position is they are often on the Wakefield site but there is no doubt both clubs and supports of both clubs are working tirelessly to resolve their ground issues.
It's an emotive subject that trolls like to poke but it's so far down the line hardly anyone bites now.
In answer to the question raised, I'd share as long as it's an equal split. A new stadium is more about revenue than comfort. The clubs sharing have to gain benefit from it.
Anyone not wanting to wade through all the chat and wants to know how things stand, read BramleyRhino's post on page 1. Best summary I've seen.

| Peter Box was on Radio Leeds yesterday alluding to good news regarding Wakey, early in the new year, however we’ve heard this too many times now. If there’s nowt happening, just keep it quiet!
No idea what’s happening with Cas, but from a Trinity fan I wish em all the best. FWIW I think the Jungle is a great RL stadium & with Headingley my favourite away destination.

| I’m pretty sure that if some of the world’s biggest football clubs can share a stadium (eg AC Milan and Inter Milan, holding 80k) then two rugby league clubs attracting less than 10k can manage it too. Whilst the clubs will split revenue (aside from ticket sales etc) from a ground share, they’d also halve the running costs of having a stadium of their own. I wish the clubs had come together much earlier when the financial climate would have made building a stadium more likely.
At the moment, even if the clubs pool resources, there is nowhere near enough capital to build a stadium. You’d be looking at an approximate cost of £15m. Wakefield have no money or assets. Cas have some assests in terms of owning the land that Wheldon Road stands on, but also debts owed to the Fulton family. There’d also be some costs associated with training facilities, as presumably neither club would train at a joint stadium, so would need to find alternatives (in Cas’ case, using the current ground as a training base, but that would mean it wouldn’t be sold to bring in revenue for any proposed new ground).
At the moment, Axiom is Cas’ best bet. The development has already had a considerable spend, and I’d be surprised if any company would just be willing to throw that away. What they might do, though, is wait until there is more economic stability before proceeding, leaving Cas at Wheldon Road for significant period of time.
On a personal level, I love going to Wheldon Road. On a commercial level, the club needs a sparkly new stadium.

Yes it looks good but that's basically far as it goes. The 'timeline' was removed from the website several months ago (I'll leave you to consider why that might be). They have 4 retailers signed up - nowhere near enough to make it a goer - and despite categorical assurances given by their reps at public consultations in the summer that construction would definitely start in the autumn (of 201icon_cool.gif..... They've also asked the Council to delay considering some submitted planning applications.

As our chairman says in this article it would be nice if Wakefield concerned themselves with their own quest for a ground rather than causing mischief regarding Odsal.

As a Bradford fan I think we've been through enough without being caught up in whatever games Hudgell and Carter are playing.

Trinity were advised by WMDC not to bid on Belle Vue so as not to drive the price up as part of the many shenanigans that’s been proposed over the last few years. As for the rest of it, I’ve learned not to believe everything that I’ve heard or read in the media over the last few years.

| It’s an odd thing for Carter and Hudgell to be doing. I can’t see any honest reason for them to be looking at Odsal.

Can you really see any reason at all honest or not why both of them should get involved together, maybe it's someone/others what's trying to cause mischief.

Establishes a market value which makes it harder for the RFL to flog the lease to Chalmers at a knockdown price. More looking over of shoulders, I suspect...
