Yes I agree. The ref handled it all poorly, but the players have to be better than that.

The problem is the ref wasn't dealing properly with fev's tactics so what are the Hull players supposed to do?

"I'm sorry, but I would hope that we would beat Cas with a 1 day turnaround." An arrogant Wigan fan a few days before we stuffed them 18-4 at the JJB.:d7dc4b20b2c2dd7b76ac6eac29d5604e_42181.jpg

Fight fire with fire and have players punching the opposition and players get sent off obviously...

Excellent contribution as always....

So you'd be perfectly happy if Wakefield had been involved in that game would you? Not at all annoyed about swinging arms, bad hits, punches, knees and whatever else went on?

This.

The referee was no means excellent, but other then that - what really could he of done differently with the cards situation.

Briscoe - professional foul - 10 mins correct
Shaul - professional foul - 10 mins correct
Davies - Head high - 10 mins correct
Faraimo - head shot swinning arm - red card - correct

The pushing one's wouldn;t have been yellows earlier in the game but he needed it to simmer down - so probably correct.

The sooner we start putting pressure on the players as well and not just blaming the ref the quicker we would get results and action. Jake connor is as much to blame for increasing tensions with his constant mouth on overdrive, feigning injury to get penalties and then laughing about it, slow clapping the ref, trying to get under hocks skin in an already tension filled game.

The guy needs to grow up quickly.

Absolutely right - it never ceases to amaze me how some fans will happily subscribe to the theory that players are unable to control themselves but for an assertive referee keeping their aggression in check; it's nonsense - the onus is, without a doubt, on the players. In this case - despite Fev's slowing tactics, Hull were totally on top - why let themselves be dragged down?

That was a bloody horrible game - if you're a neutral checking out RL for the first time, or a potential sponsor, you've just had all your RL stereotypes confirmed.

I agree people saying ref was poor and lost control, i thought he did a good job considering both teams seems more happy to try to knock lumps out of each other, whats the ref supposed to do he gave them plenty of chances to straighten themselves out, then lost patience and got the cards out.

In over 50 years of watching and playing the game, Chase's tackle was the worst. most cowardly, unprovoked attack I've ever seen on a rugby field. Had he done what he did on the street he'd have gone inside. Instead, having broken a fellow professional's jaw he got 3 matches.
I wasn't there last night, because I've broken my ankle, I'll reserve judgement until I see it on Rovers' TV. But for the record, I reckon Hull thought we'd roll over like we did against Wire end of last season. They got a nasty shock.

More cowardly than Barry Johnson having his jaw shattered by a headbutt, despite him not having the ball & his arms held?

Absolutely. There's only so much a ref can do and if players decide to ignore yellow and red cards that's their problem. Shaul, for example, knew the ref was happy to send players from the field and still chose to grab the shirt.

I'm sure anyone who's played has experienced bad-tempered games where very few lads care what the ref does. Some of my fondest memories of playing are the roughest games that end with a laugh and a handshake with your opposite number.

I thought the ref was pretty good. Possibly should have given a yellow for the early challenge on Shaul though icon_lol.gif

I was praying Hock would get a proper grip of him at some point. Well worth a yellow card. icon_smile.gif

Connor does a good job of riling the opposition, gives it the mouth and then disappears behind the nearest forward. That said, if I was the opposition coach I'd target him for some nasty play - he's a penalty machine when he spits his dummy.

Perhaps I'm in a minority - but no, quite the opposite; I actually want to see the game played properly. If I wanted to watch games like that, I'd wander down to my local amateur club and catch an open age match.

Think Jamie Shaul's sin binning just showed that the players had lost all respect for the match. He knows what he's doing, he's even laughing while pulling Briscoe back. And as soon as the ref blow his whistle he doesn't even look at the ref he just runs straight to the sideline (before the ref even had chance to get a card out of his pocket) laughing.
The game has just become a joke to some of them.

Or perhaps he just thought "I'm getting myself out of here before I end up getting my head taken off".

Not surprised at all by that game for two reasons.

1. We had that same ref against Catalans away and Leeds at home - he was hopeless in both games. Even miscounting tackle counts.

2. Feath are hard b*****ds.
