Leeds are a far superior side to Cas so it’s quite appropriate they are called the champions

| I think until Cas escape the small team mentality they have, they won’t win anything. It’s the chip on the shoulder that leaks through the whole team directly from the likes of Luke Gale. But when it comes to the crunch inevitably they go back in to their shell. Gale has demonstrated this with England and in last years Grand Final. Not to mention the second half of last nights game. It will take some mental correction to become winners.

| I thought it was a great game. Best SL game I've watched this season.

I've just put something similar on our forum. I think playing this fixture at Elland Road every year would be fantastic. Whatever the result, it was a great night and the game needs more like it. There was a great atmosphere between both sets of fans before and after the game. The buzz around the ground even a couple of hours before kick off was fantastic. Compare it to watching the embarrassment of empty stands on SKY the night before. The only negative was the seats in the South Stand at Elland Road were tiny, or maybe I just need to go on a diet! Saints v Wigan at Anfield would be a good shout too.

Don't think we are all the same - I'd have swapped every win against Leeds last season and the LLS to have won at Old Trafford. Leeds are champions for a reason - they win when it matters. We are still learning to play at the business end of the season, but hopefully it will come. Great night last night, the game needs more regular season 'events' like it

The game was expertly promoted by both Leeds and Cas Tigers so hats off to them. I would like to see a repeat next season but a little later maybe around round 11 in warmer weather. The record of 25,000 could easily be beaten by these two fantastically supported sides.

Look at every other sport in the world. Apart from football and Forumla 1, there are play-offs to decide the champions.

Yeah. no problem for me. We have been using Elland Road for our player of the year awards for the last couple of years now so I see putting on a home game at Elland Road as the next step to this. Works for me.

| Quote: bramleyrhino "A great contest and a great event - something that RL in this country sorely needs more of.
Last night was an example of what I mean when I say that RL doesn't need to keep clamouring for an Eddie Hearn. Leeds didn't do anything particuarly difficult or innovative prior to last night. They simply put on an event and they (and Castleford) made sure that they told as many people about it as possible. All it needed was a bit of money in social media advertising, a bit of money in outdoor media in the right places and a bit of effort in PR - what every marketing department at every club is (or should be) perfectly capable of doing.'"
It was great event. There’s no reason why it shouldn’t happen a couple of times a year between a few of the bigger derby games.
Next season a Cas home game should be at Elland Rd against Leeds. One year a Saints home game against Wigan should be at Anfield and the following year a Wigan home game against Saints at the Etihad.
I’m just watching Saracens v Harlequins for the only London derby left in Union at the Olympic Stadium and there are 57000 there.
I reckon you could have got a good few thousand more Cas fans in there last night. They filled the away end and had fans in the home end too. If 13000 Saints fans and 3000 Wigan fans can run up to Langtree and 19000 Wigan fans and 5000 Saints fans can turn up to the DW, there’s no reason why at least 15000 of each cant turn up at Anfield or the Etihad.
As for Hearn/Marchroom; I’m ing dreading the day they turn up in our sport as we have midweek press conferences with LMS and Fifita smashing those fake WWE chairs over each other in the week before the game. But our big finals, the Magic Weekend, games like last night and even the 2013 World Cup show that when we put effort into things they are excellent. We just need to be sensible when it comes to Hearn. Hopefully he keeps us classy and his biggest contribution is the enticement of bigger sponsors

Yeah. Newcastle falcons are playing their game at St James' park this weekend. I believe they're looking at 28k or so for that. Worth bearing in mind that a normal home crowd for them would be maybe 7-8000. So while last night was good to see there's more that could be done IMO.

No problem at all. Alternate each season, can't see why it wouldn't work.

There are reasons, unless there's a chance of having a big up. Northern based RL fans for the most part don't 'travel' in numbers.
To expect 30,000 fans from just Wigan and St.helens to turn at either ground is pie in the sky. St.helens fans are rubbish, remember when Langtree was being built, they couldn't even be bothered to support their club despite the 'home' ground being less than 7 miles away at Widnes.
Even high flying teams rarely take more than 1500-2000 fans away.
I'm nt saying don't do it, but the expectation that 15k from each club would turn up is IMO way off the mark.

Matchroom Sport is a sport event promotions company led by the founder and owner English entrepreneur Barry Hearn and his son Eddie. It first came to attention in the sports of snooker and boxing and is also involved in pool, bowling, golf, fishing, darts, ping pong, and poker and as of late 2016 gymnastics. The company is based in Essex
Recently they also began sponsoring the football ground of Leyton Orient. Previously called Brisbane Road, it has now been renamed the Matchroom Stadium.
Eddie is a multi millionaire ,he is obviously a very good promoter . If he chooses to become involved in our sport it can only be for the better .
If successful he could possibly purchase a home in Carcassonne......

The Reason

Can you honestly see the likes of association football, rugby union, basketball or cricket get involved with a pub games promoter? You know, proper sports? No, neither can I.
