having experienced the effects off this drug and seen how others behave on this as well, its a shocking aggressive drug especially as its often combined with alcohol. no wonder he keeps getting into fights. lucky he is not in jail for his drug fueled violence.'"
No it wasn't a stab in the dark, I used all the Super League players I know and the 6 out of 10 came from the one's from that sample who I know to have taken it.
Call it what you want, nasty, class A, whatever, it is rife in society particularly amongst men aged 18-40, to expect that it doesn't transcend into Rugby League is naive.

| If it means that Rangi Chase finally gets psychiatric help, then it is all for the better.
If it means that Widnes Vikings get relegated to the Championship, then it is all for the better.
If it means that Dennis Betts finally gets an operation on his vocal chords, then it is all for the better.

Hard to quantify the percentage of players who have dabbled but I wouldn't be surprised if it was a high number. It is a much bigger problem than people realise in pubs and clubs and it is rife in both sexes. To me it holds no appeal but blokes I know say a night out without some powders or pills isn't a proper night out.i love my ale and a night out but choosing to take these substances whilst out and about is down to the individual.

| Quote: TheUnassumingBadger "Should players even be tested for recreational drugs? I'd estimate that at least 6 out of 10 Super League players will have snorted coke on a night out during their career. Stupid to get banned for it if you ask me, as long as it isn't performance enhancing then they should be allowed to do what they want.'"
Yes they should, taking cocaine directly before a game can give you an advantage, how long and how much I wouldn't know but it certainly does have certain effects that would be beneficial.
Even if there was no percieved gain on the field, every other aspect of taking drugs by players in the professional arena( well anyone in fact) is simply wrong, wrong from so many differing angles.
cocaine purchases fund organised crime, the money could be used for all sorts, human trafficking, slavery, forced prostitution, gun crime, knife crime, serious thefts, more drugs being brought into the country peddeled on the streets and all the huge impact that that has on society.
Then you have the influence that players in a community sport have on the younger generation.
And you're asking if we should test players ...ffs!

We are the sport of the Betfred Super League, Ladbrokes Challenge Cup and Kingston Press Championship we might want to tone down the righteous indignation somewhat.

| Re caffeine. I used to know someone subject to drugs testing through ice hockey and they were warned about taking too much caffeine pre match, energy drinks really, as they could fail a drugs test over it. Presumably it can be used as a masking agent. They were also unable to take a whole host of day in day out medicines without jumping through all sorts of hoops.

| I'd hazard a guess that if the whole league was tested there would be enough tested positive to put out a full 'Colombian' team, with subs.
There have been rumours of 'this player and that player' been on the Charlie for years. I don't see how it's suddenly going to go away when recreational drug use among young men is as rife as it's ever been.

einstien said insanity is when a person does the same thing over and over again but expects a different result: |

I think a lot of players think they can get away with it because it's out your system within 3 days whereas cannabis is 6 months

| Quote: Ganson's Optician "I'm sorry, but I'm sick of seeing "mental health" being wheeled out as an excuse for general bellendery. It's an absolute insult to those with genuine problems.'"
100% agree.
IF Chase is diagnosed with a stress / depression related condition, then that's an awful place for him to be in. But, as you pointed out, many are far too quick to play this card without knowing the full facts.
There are thousands out there suffering from depression / anxiety and do not resort to drugs or acting in a poor manner on multiple of occasions. If this had been the first incident I think there would be some credence in it. But just how many clubs does he need to be released from / illegal acts does he need to do?
Chase is undoubtedly a fantastic Rugby talent, but his character is flawed. If it be a mental illness, then he does need help. If its because he things he is holier then thou, I;d prefer his not to be associated with our game.

| Quote: tigertot "Phew, thank Christ your qualifications as a psychiatrist put you in a position to correctly analyse & diagnose Rangi's demons as simple bellendery. That Terry Newton was another one.'"
But, thats the whole point, no body knows if it is genuine medical issues or simply the actions of someone who thinks they are untouchable. Until the facts come out, GO's post was not that unreasonable

With comments like these, I am assuming you will get your own thread sympathising about your mental health issue. Because these comments are either from someone who has some dark issues, or who hangs around with the wrong crowd or is basically an idiot.
