NRL does see a better mixture of teams in the GF. They have every team spending to the cap though plus in the NRL there is a better spread of top players across all teams.

Because all teams can afford to spend to the cap you see players going to smaller less successful clubs when out of contract. We dont really get that here.

Thought wigan controlled it well. Were I a wire, I'd be disappointed on a few levels.

Champions in the 1950's... Workington, Wigan, St Helens, Warrington, Hull, Oldham
Champions in the 1960's... Leeds, Hudds, Swinton, Halifax, St Helens, Wakefield.
Champions in the 1970's... St Helens, Leeds, Dewsbury, Salford, Fev, Widnes, Hull KR, Bradford
Champions in the 1980's... Bradford, Leigh, Hull, Hull KR, Halifax, Wigan, Widnes'"

There has if you go back that far but eras have always been dominated by 3 or 4 teams, sometimes just 1 or 2...or even 1 in the late 80s - 90s!

really should have been a new name on the trophy this year though when in reality Wigan Saints and Leeds were a shadow of their former selves. Credit to Wigan though for toughing it out and they deserved to win the final.

I'm gutted for Warrington tonight, I wanted a new winner in Super League but the truth is Wigan were the much better team, if there is a new winner in Super League then teams like Warrington Hull Catalans etc need to step there game up when it comes to the Grand Final, 20 years of Super League in a salary capped competition and they have only been four winners, whilst the NRL has been around for 18 years and produced twelve different winners, even the Premier League has more winners than the Super League icon_lol.gif

I would have liked to see Warrington win it but Wigan were deserved winners.

Not just that but the play offs as a whole. The usual suspects kick it up several gears in the play offs and as we have seen in the past with Huddersfield and Catalans and this year with Hull they struggle to match it. The sides on paper these days are closer than ever so the chance is there for a couple of clubs to muscle in but i doubt there will be much better clear cut chances than this year.

实事求是!:

The only difference is mentality. These other clubs have the ability and the players, but not the mentality. They strut around like cock 'o' north during the regular season when leeds saints and wigan fans all know what's coming. Huddersfield fans were terrible for it in 2013 then kel suprise! Look what happened in the playoffs, the old warhorses wigan turned up and did em in the first game.

The one thing that teams like Wigan, Saints and Leeds have is mental toughness, and knowing what it take to win, it's ingrained into their cultures, and the more these teams dominate the harder it will be for any others to get that mental toughness, these clubs have had it for years it will take years for another club to do it.

Wigan could have easily lost their semi final v fc

One lucky pass and bounce for powells try made the difference.

True, but it certainly isn't going to be the most memorable one.

Probably not, but there have been some very good ones the last 20 years. imo it was better than the CC final, obviously Hull fans will disagree icon_smile.gif

Congratulations to Wigan and Shaun Wane.
To have that group of players perform so well against "better" opposition was a phenomenal effort.
Wigan were making better yards for the full 80 minutes and credit must go to their forwards, whose dominance won the game for the Pies.
Lineham had played well for the most part of the game and he seemed to be targeted with plenty of high balls and eventually he knocked on forward, allowing Wigan a crucial score.
But, with only 3 tries, it was a game for defence and Wigan were just that little bit better.
