| Keeping this on an RL topic does anyone have an idea what might happen to the KOLPAC players. I may be wrong but I think the KOLPAC agreement is an EU thing. I'd then Assume that those players now need a work permit, can they play until that is sorted? Are they guaranteed one?

The polls showed the more education the more likely to vote remain.

The insularity of London made it into a close contest, outside London the ethnic areas outside of the capital like Birmingham, Blackburn, Bradford voted leave with bigger margins which was a surprise.

I imagine it will come in when they are offered new contracts. This will also include French players as well.

The public yesterday voted to leave, at this point and until we go through a process we are still part of the European Union. A date for when we actually exit has not even been identified. It will now take the politicians and civil servants and a whole host of lawyers the next two years to work out our exit. Even then its unlikely that some aspects would be implemented immediately if at all. If it is poposed to change (affecting the KOLPAC) then a date in the future will be set after which it will no longer be available, nor would it be applied retrospectively. Those already signed on that basis may have exemptions, residence type of status or something else.

| I think it's far from certain that we *will* actually leave, anyway. As SR says, there's a hell of a lot to be sorted out first, even if we do.

I dont want to rain on your parade but, we are definitely coming out of the EU.
It will take a while but it's definitely happening.
Anyone wanting to stay in needs to move to Scotland, who will be pushing like hell for independence AND membership of the EU.

Likely happening. Not definitely. It was not a legally binding referendum, it was advisory not mandatory. Lots to sort out, even possibility of second referendum.

I think Cameron resigning has more or less cleared the decks for article 50 to kick in, which is a document that apparently no one knows how to implement involving 80 000 pages of agreements guff to sift through, which obviously KOLPAC be in there somewhere.

you never say never in politics until it actually happens which won't be for at least 2 years. plenty of time for political manouvering. not saying i agree with that but that's the way it will go
i also find it interesting that those voting out have probably signed up to a lifetime of tory rule. the first thing that will happen is scotland will seek and get independence. chances northern ireland may seek to join with the republic (less likely but possible). this will leave the uk as england and wales. if labour lose the scottish vote they lose every election, unless the electoral system is reformed.

Birmingham was 50-50, essentially. Its suburbs were strongly Leave.
Liverpool, Manchester, Norwich, Bristol, Gloucester, Newcastle, Leicester, Leeds, York, Brighton, Exeter, Cardiff, Edinburgh, Glasgow, Cambridge and Oxford all voted Remain. There's a map circulating social media right now which is very misleading as it ups it to regional level, and rubs out the cities. Essentially, the Cities voted Remain. The suburbs, towns and most of the shores voted Leave.
Likewise, a majority of people with jobs, both part-and full-time, voted Remain. A majority of people without jobs (which means far more Retired than unemployed), voted Leave.
There was a direct correlation between education and voting. The higher your level of education, the more you were likely to vote Remain. The least educated voted Leave in the largest proportions.
There was also a direct correlation between age and voting. The older you were the more likely to vote Leave. 75% of 18-24 voted Remain, as did a clear majority of 25-49. 70% of 65+ voted Leave.
In a nutshell, this is a decision imposed on educated, working, younger people in Cities, by poorly-educated, non-working, older people in suburbs and small towns.
Don't have a go at me or that. That's just a factual account. If you don't like the way it sounds, I can't do anything about it except deny the facts, which I don't tend to do because I'm not into the whole "alternate reality" thing which so many Leave supporters have going on.
