Could you clarify whether it will be appalling because Leeds fans won't turn up when they could/should or is it appalling because the "lower orders" simply shouldn't be allowed to play in the last 8 of the Challenge Cup?

If I had to guess I'd go for something between 7-8k.
Which, whilst I understand some of the reasons for it (not on season ticket being the biggest factor in my opinion) and that cup games always get lower crowds (Cup 2014 v St Helens = 12,194 compared to SL 2013 v St Helens = 15,99icon_cool.gif, I still find the low cup crowds poor, and both the RFL and the clubs need to find ways of getting more people in.
IIRC our average crowd is approx 15k. So it's disappointing to only get about half that.

You know exactly why it'll be a low crowd, if you don't you're delusional (and a bit paranoid judging by your last question).
Leeds Saints in the last round drew a decent 12k.
Leeds vs ANY Championship club doesn't have quite the same ring, especially at £17+ for a ticket.
I hope it's a good game but i'll be watching on Sky and saving my cash for next Thursday's match vs Hudds.

I do know exactly why and its entirely reasonable - but my question was why is it "appalling" - to quote our dear friend Smokey? Who's to blame for this appalling state of affairs - Leigh, Leeds or the RFL?

it will be appalling because people dont want to watch it. There is no blame, it is what it is. Relatively few people want to watch.

| Can't see anything other than a comfortable Leeds win unfortunately, I would love to be wrong though.

| I see it as a win-win situation for Leeds.
An easy Leeds win = a professional performance by Leeds
A close Leeds win = a plucky performance by Leigh
A Leigh win = Leeds doing their bit for the good of the game.
Anyone buying that?

Depends on your definition of appalling.
For a Leeds home game it'll be appalling, for a SL vs Championship side it'll probably be considered pretty good.
No one's to blame. It's SL vs lower league, what do you expect - a full house?
I'm sure Leeds vs the likes of Blackpool or Doncaster in the 80s was much worse.

| Leigh have been shipping points against mediocre opposition, I think Leeds will declare after an hour and Leigh will get a couple of consolation tries.

| Leigh have been going great, but Leeds at Headingley is a whole different game, and as a rule Leeds don't tend to switch off against lesser teams. Stay within 30 or 40 and they've had a decent night.

| Will be 40 points between the sides, but I feel we would have beaten that Widnes side out tonight at LSV

No chance mate. Would have been close but deluded if you think you could have beaten us. London and possibly Bradford yes.
