For those who may be wondering what all the fuss is about, watch this video of Catalans vs Bradford. In the opening minute Escare runs the ball 85 metres to score a try. He beats the Bradford full back Lee Gaskell pointlessly with a feint change of direction to the right, a swerve to the left, and pace.
Later in the video Escare backs up a break to score another.
Note that the second Catalan try is scored by Eliot Whitehead after a Catalan bomb is allowed to bounce by the Bradford full back Lee Gaskell. (This is the same Lee Gaskell who is preferred to Escare by FlexWheeler and other clowns on this forum).

| Escare is typical of a lot, if not all, junior/young backs coming through in the last 5 years or so in that he looks good putting the ball down over the line or going on a mazy broken field run, but when asked to do the real tough stuff they don't seem as interested.
He's good, but I wouldn't put him in the top 5 fullbacks in SL. As with most things though, this could change.

| He's behind
Hardacre
Lomax
Bowen
Russel
Shaul
Hanbury
Hampshire
Given the opportunity to sign Escare I'd love my club to sign him but if my club had the choice of Escare or any of the above list then he'd lose out to all of them.

How's his defence?

The tough stuff is not his problem. He does so well in scoring tries because he is very fast and evasive, and because he is always following the ball in attack, to either break the defensive line himself or follow and back up another player breaking the defensive line.

Your selection of full backs ahead of Escare takes no account of the Opta stats on actual performances.
BTW there is no Hardacre in Super League. There is however a man named Hardaker.

I have already given the data on that in an earlier post.
His average number of tackles per game is 6 and his average number of missed tackles is 2.

So he misses on average 1 third of the tackles he makes or is the 6 tackles made actually successful tackles? If so he would miss a quarter of his tackle attempts. Still poor for your team's last line of defense.

In attack Shaul and Escare are very similar. However Shaul is a decent tackler and great under a high ball, Escare isn't.

| Full back is more than attack and one on one defending, its about organising the line and seeing threats, escare and shaul have a lot to learn in that dept add eden into that bracket too.

I noticed that Escare did just fine under the high ball against Bradford.

They are rankings for individual stats and doesn't rank players from best to worst. The rankings system is not published online AFAIK.
