| It clearly went over.
The penalty for Saints to make it 16-16 was very dubious.
The momentum-shifting penalty against McGillvary that put Saints in position for the sending-off/try at 16-8 should have been against Walsh.
And to put a cherry on top there was a voluntary tackle on the last play.
Laughable.

| IS the answer to the question, "when it's kicked by any team playing against Saints with Bentham refereeing"?

| I heard Noble say they can but can VR judge on drop-goals? From what we've seen on replays it's why they don't go to the screen for forward passes because it looks different from different angles.
To be fair, it shouldn't take 4 attempts to get a DG away so Brough shouldn't just be sulking at the ref tonight.

| The shot from behind conclusively proves it was a DG. It set off on a line inside the post and never deviated from that line. The VR if honest would 100% have had to give it. Bentham was under the posts and in a poor position to judge, and the more important Q would be why on earth he didn't just ask the VR? I don't understand that. If I were a Shudds fan I'd be very upset

Not only did it go back it was arguably kicked out by the defender.

Play to the whistle. Saints still had to go 80 metres. Brough had 3 attempts beforehand. Huddersfield could of easily taken it to extra time by keeping saints penned, but they didn't.
That said... The better team lost today

| Quote: Odem "Huge injustice.
Saints were given numerous pens to march them down field. '"
Because Huddersfield were holding down and interfering in the tackle.
Quote: Odem "Brough's drop goal went over (why would he celebrate otherwise), Luke Walsh also says it went over. '"
Did it? I thought it missed, it seemed to go over the top and left of the post.
Quote: Odem "Why was there no pen at the end for the voluntary tackle? Why don't we just scrap that rule because it is never enforced. '"
Maybe because it wasn't a voluntary tackle. Look up the rule.
Quote: Odem "The ref decided that game, not the players. A real shame considering the quality 79mins we watched only for it to be fixed by Bentham.'" ]
No it was decided by the players.
It was decided by Brett Ferres getting sent off, or by Danny Brough missing 4 attempted drop goals, or Luke Walsh scoring with one attempt, or by Huddersfield interfering at the play the ball, or numerous other incidents, take yer pick.

| Quote: Dally "As a neutral I was disgusted. He robbed Huddersfield. I can't see the point in watching or playing a game where refs have such influence over the running and result of a match. The Ferres sending off (which I agreed with) came off the back of a series of penalties against Huddersfield - at least one of which was completely wrong. .'"
Take the emotion away and re read that. The sending off came off the back of a stream of penalties, by the way Huddersfield were lucky to keep all their players on during that spell. There was only one borderline call, the penalty under the posts for the equaliser. All the others were blatant.

It doesnt matter whether the VR can decide. The ref has a duty to check if there is doubt. He did that on every Huddersfield TRY.
There was real doubt on Benthams ability to make a decision on that DG not least the reactiosn of players on both sides, yet on the one decison that he could have gone to the VR he did not
WHY

| It went over. At worst it went over the post. Which is a drop goal.
Massive failure from Bentham, he had to go to the screen completely unacceptable not to check if he could.

The fact he turned away before the ball even went close to the posts means his opinion on whether the ball went over is actually pretty meaningless.
Plenty of football players are already celebrating goals only to see the ball slip wide.
