We cant go back to the Eddie Waring days as we are trying to reach out to all corners of UK. Who cares about chips in Hull!!'"
What is this standard then? And who reaches it?...

| Premiers coverage of the Championships has been pretty rubbish really, so it wasnt surprising many were worried about the WC, however they have done a decent job, hopefully as a result of this coverage we will see Virgin take up premier and potentially an actual paying deal for the lower tiers be put on the table

| What i like about the coverage is that it doesn't accentuate the negative points during a game. On Sky's coverage whenever a try is scored they always repeat any errors leading up to a try and ignore the skill involved in scoring.
There were a number of incidents in last night's game where on Sky they would have been endless repeating themselves trying to make a point, Premier's commentators get on with the job and make it pleasing to listen too.
I now look forward to the commentary rather than reach for the mute button.

| There's a lot parallels to be drawn between their commentary and the postings on rlfans; 'games about entertainment, not life and death', 'not always accentuating the negatives about the game', 'not endlessly repeating themselves to try make a point'... Hmm sound familiar?

| Haven't got Premier Sports so unable to comment on Voss. Noble's been ok as a summariser whenever I've heard him, certainly better than Davies, Wilkin, Myler, Crabtree and the like. Jon Wells has been decent on 5 live xtra.
As for Eddie and Stevo, somwhere along the line they decided to ape football commentators who, given the comparative paucity of incident in their game, quite rightly focus upon the odd potentially-controversial incident in order to flesh out a contest. This doesn't work well at all in RL IMO where it's quite easy to make the case for a foul having been committed in pretty much every set of six, were someone minded to do so.

Watch the soccer on Sky tomorrow
Flick over to Sky RU internationals today
Watch the Ashes cricket in 3 weeks time
Watch the F1 on the beeb or sky
Take them as barometers of commentary excellence then flick back to Vossy and Nobby. See if you see any difference.
I wonder if Gary Neville will make reference to Macari's chippy at OT, or Stuart Barnes the William Webb Ellis Spoons in Twickers, or Bob Willis the amature cricket clubs in Perth or Coultard local tyre suppliers in Abu Dhabi....
Are you starting to see how these cheap commentators pull the game down inadvertently whilst trying to satisfy the humour of a few pit workers in the north

| Barnes is too busy picking fault with any player/coach with a rugby league background to comment on the local spoons. A very bitter man who isn't popular in Rugby Union circles.

You are hilarious! All this 'high and mighty' from a Broncos fan?
Hope you enjoy your rugby next season. Please promise not to speak to anyone about your game day experiences, you will only put them off the sport!
Sad individual you are.

| Sky's cricket commentary, and the BBC's on Test Match Special, to me, is the best out there. Everything else lags behind. Voss (and Noble) have brought a warmth to the commentary which adds a little more colour to the action. Can't see any negatives in it.

| No negatives for me, Voss and Noble are a great commentary team. As for the humour of Bumble on the cricket and the Premier team for the wc, I think the key thing is you feel as if you're laughing with them and not at them as we have seen with some RL commentators

| Bumble frequently refers to local cricket and such things as pies in Bolton and then rambles on about what gig he attended the previous evening.
Perfect foil for the 'sophistication' of Gower etc.
Yes there is a place foe Voss if it can be balanced against someone more acceptable to audiences on a wider scale.

What a halfwit you are. Just because you enjoy a certain style of commentary doesn't mean it's commentary excellence.
Sky RU commentary? The same Sky RU commentary despised by rugby union fans in England and around the world?
Fuck me. Is Stuart Barnes still part of their team? Get over yourself you boring pleb.

Hi Ho Hi Ho down the pit we go......
One day we will realise its the games parochialism that's holding it back.
That's why we have global brands such as Foxy Bingo etc as our sponsors.
