Quote: Dave Lister "Fully, what would your opinion be if Castleford picked up what could be argued as an unethical sponsor?'"
Difficult question and depends on circumstances.
If the company is operating legally and the service they provide is legally then they have the right to advertise like anyone else, even if you or I don't agree with the service they provide.
If there are other sponsors knocking down the door then I would always go with the other sponsors first.
You have to think what's best for the club; if you associate yourself with a company like that is it going to deter fans from supporting the club, is it going to affect your brand to the point where no one else has dealings with you. You have to take into consideration the wider perspective.
However, if the club was on the cusp of going under and little to no chance of salvation and the only way out was a company offering this money, would you take it? Is the club bigger than me....yes? I'd probably consider accepting the money in that situation.
Let's turn this on it's head. With all the rumours with London now and the only chance of maintaining a salary cap spending Super League team next season was if a perceived unethical company - in your eyes - made an offer and said they'd pump loads of money into marketing and running the club, what would you do or say? Would you jump ship? Even if it aided in London becoming a successful club/brand at the pinnacle of the sport?
