Wow, what an insightful comment!
In fact there are multiple reasons (and I speak as a Salford supporter, I expect Cas fans can speak for themselves)
Lack of investment
Poor management
Non-existing marketing
would be my top 3, these of course have led to:
Poor player recruitment (a retirement home for elderly antipodeans)
Steadily diminishing fan base (eventually even the hard core stop watching crap)
Loss of grip on reality (both financial and sporting)
BUT there's light appeared at the end of a 20 year tunnel - Dr K promises much and we Salford faithfuls put our trust in his vision - let's be honest there isn't another!
So you can imagine just how it warms our heart's cockles to read threads like this. I thank the few positive posters and agree that Rome was not built in a day and I hope sincerely that the doubters will be proved wrong and before long I'll be applauding my team as Superleague or Challenge Cup winners - I have a dream (to quote somebody famous)

| Some very sad people on this thread.
Salford are not doing that bad considering they have not had a pre-season, lost all their major players, were facing extinction at Xmas, and have fielded the majority of their academy side in most matches this season so far. Season tickets went on sale the first week of the season and they've taken on new owners and changed backroom staff in the same time frame.
Judge them at the end of next season after a year of stability, a pre-season, a proper go at things and a proper marketing push.

Yes, it has crossed my mind that fans of SL clubs don't attend SL fixtures (or any other fixtures like CC rounds for instance) unless entry to those fixtures are covered by the purchase of a heavily discounted season ticket.

Would you like to show me a popular sports competition that does not invite it's supporters to purchase season tickets/memberships?

Context isn't allowed when you have an agenda!
You can compare it to last years game vs Cas which was a season opener and first at the new ground and say its a drop......
......or you can look at the crowd they got for their last televised home game vs HKR and noticed a near 500 person improvement tonight.

Disregard the other 13 clubs.....can you genuinely not see reasons why Salfords attendances might be down this year? I know excel doesnt allow for anything other than pure numbers, but think about it.....

| Impressive effort from the new Salford City Stadium and it's ability to declare what appeared to be a real attendance of barely 1,000 spectators into an alternative attendance of 2,306. It's a huge relief that a 6 was tagged on to end of it, otherwise it may have seemed suspicious again

Did you pause the coverage and count them all on your tv screen? Impressive.

I genuinely feel sorry for you now. No answer to my question so you instead resort to childish, unfounded rubbish.
There was a match played in exactly the same stadium on TV a couple of months ago, Sale Sharks vs Scarlets in which the crowd looked at least 1,000 smaller than it was today and that was announced at over 3,000.
I don't know why I'm bothering to answer to such a blatant troll, but here I am .

Or better still, you could compare it to all previous Salford V Castleford fixtures during the SL era to discover that the attendance earlier this evening was in fact the lowest ever.

Can you prove that the attendance was, in your words, "barely a 1000"?

Or better still, you could continue to completely ignore my point re: season tickets .
