| I think Tomkins would be a huge coup for the NRL. It's certainly increase interest in their comp from over here.

Especially true if he goes to a club which doesn't yet have an Englishman. You would have UK fans watching Souths (Burgess brothers), Canterbury (Graham), Melbourne (Widdop), Parramatta (Hock and Mossop), perhaps Brisbane (Reed), plus Tomkins' club.
The other side of the coin is that Australian RL fans will become more interested in the England national team when it plays Australia and even New Zealand. The Burgess brothers are already very popular with Souths fans, and I heard one TV commentator say last weekend that George Burgess already has "a cult following" among Souths fans. So it is a boost for the international game to have so many top quality and very popular English players in Australia's NRL.

You sound like someone who has never been, let alone live there. Ashfield, Balmain, Quakers Hills? That's just a few nice places. The to put the west of Sydney all in the same column is a massive generalization.

| Regardless of the NRL links it seems that a lot of people will be very surprised if he is not a Union player soon.
Hope not though.
Saracens keeps being mentioned.

Panthers or Parra would be favourites but who wants to live in west Sydney?'"
He doesn't have to live in Western Sydney to play for Parra. He probably would pick a Sydney team though, as others have said, more fellow English players and Sydney is great City, depends whats he is after though.
Wouldn't mind seeing him at the Roosters, Mini isn't going to be there forever.

There plenty of decent places in the west, although some areas are horrible, but so is most of towns in the North of England. Just like not all areas of the Eastern suburbs are nice, I have lived there and some areas are worse then in the west. Personally I think the best areas in Sydney are either the northern beaches or down Cronulla way.

You obviously aren't a very serious Roosters fan. It has been made perfectly clear that when Mini's contract is up at the end of this year, he will be replaced at full back by Roger Tuivasa-Sheck. The young Kiwi is a very talented full back and the Roosters coach seems very happy with him playing out of position on the wing (and forgiven him for being out of position in defence for a couple of games), because the club has decided that Roger will be Mini's heir, and they want to groom him with first grade experience.
Plus the club is at the top of its salary cap now and will continue to be so if Sonny Bill stays. There is no money for Tomkins.
So the Roosters have no interest in Tomkins, as CEO Canavan has already stated.

All I said was I wouldn't mind seeing him at Roosters, and then im accused of not being a very serious fan. What a tool you are. So I cant say that 'I wouldn't mind Tomkins at the Roosters'??? So why is that then, because like many other Roosters fans, I pay my season membership money and turn up every week, so why can't I say that I wouldn't mind a certain player there. Hate to tell but plans change especially when players become available and others don't progress as you would like. Do you really think SBW will be here next year? How exactly do you know that they or any other NRL club dont have an interest in him. Because of a news report or quote? Your an idiot if you believe everything you here. I have no idea if they would be interested in him, just like you dont, CEO's have a habit of denying all sorts of things.

I lived in Sydney for 2.5 years, just near balmain in a lovely suburb called Abbotsford, those suburbs are in the Inner West which is entirely different to the greater west.
I also wouldn't class Ashfield as a 'nice' suburb I looked at a house there it was a right dump as was the surrounding area

I've definitely left Australia, great place for a holiday, wouldn't want to live there again - well maybe when I retire.
Balmain is vet yuppie territory, With yuppie prices (great little village though) Abbotsford is more of a quiet family suburb but still with yuppie prices!
Probably one of the few things I miss about Aus is living in Abbotsford, lovely area.
Now Bankstown and Blacktown .....
