Correct, and Mcguire had every right to effect a tackle. Consistency is once again the key word. It's driving supporters of every team nuts.

Exactly this. If you were to compare RL referees to the standard of officiating in the NFL this past three weeks, Richard Silverwood should be getting a knighthood.

| 1. The ball was not 'knocked on' by Burrow. He's in full control until Carmont swings his arm into Burrow (dislodging the ball), and Carmont's knees make contact with the ball, taking it all the way out. There is already a player affecting a tackle on Burrow, so this is a strip. At the very least, penalty to Leeds.
2. Carmont makes contact with the head of Burrow in the act of scoring, he makes no attempt to get under the ball or prevent him scoring by legitimate means. The knees then make contact with the head as he goes over the top of Burrow. That's two counts of reckless tackling, in the act of scoring, which prevented a try that would otherwise have been scored. Penalty try.

I'll take the video ref's interpretation of it.

No it isn't. A strip needs deliberate contact to push the ball out. Incidental contact with the ball in the act of a tackle doesn't give the ball carrier the right to gain an advantage by failing to hold the ball.

| It was never a penalty to put Leeds 8-0 up - Hansen moved his knee by half an inch.
Wigan should have had a pen 30 yards out and JJB should have been off the pitch for his blatent attack to Leuluai's head. It was worse than McIlorum's or McGuire's. That should have been 2 more points to Wigan.
Also, Ryan Hall should have been sin binned for his professional foul on Goulding in the last min. SO Leeds should have been down to 11 men, either facing a penalty against Wigan or 6 tackles on their own line or potential DG and starting extra time with only 11 men for 9 mins.
They were all more controversial decision's even if you take Wigan's 6 points away for the 2nd try that was never a knock on from Lunt.

| It's a bit of a red herring to compare the current NFL situation with SL reffing as the real NFL refs are on strike over pay at the moment & the NFL is running on a replacement refs service. It's an unfair comparison.

He wasn't penalised for using his knee to knock the ball out, it was for "crowding" - taking up the Leeds players space in which to play the ball. It was correctly given as a penalty.
Leeds deservedly won the game and I would say the vast majority of crucial decisions went against Leeds.
Just for clarity, I am l Leeds-hating Wakey fan.

Stop talking sense, it'll never catch on.
Who gives a flying one what other sports do with their officiating, our sport has nothing to do with them, it is our sport that clearly has problems with consistancy and lack of clarity/openess & will not accept criticism even when justified.
The game isn't corrupt but the standard of officialdom from top to bottom is average at best and this is a part of why fans are getting pee'd off with the sport as a whole.

I'm stunned at your opinion of the JJB on Leuluai tackle, did you see it properly?

| I thought Carmont hit the ball with his arm which deflected into the face of Burrow. He didn't go in with an attempt to hit him with his knees delibrately. However heshould never be allowed to play profesional rugby league again...

Presumably then, given your very strong views on the subject, you've offered to help improve standards by applying for the RFL's referee training scheme?
