| Quote: mat "people keep going on about it not being a sellout if there arent 90k in attendance. Thing to remember is the club wembley seats are included in the 90k capacity and there won't be many of those, primarily football supporting seat holders in attendance for a RL final, but as there entitled to attend their seats aren't available to anyone else. Not sure how many seats are in the middle tier but I'd guess at 10-15k minimum, which needs knocking off the stadium capacity when your talking about whether game is a sellout or not.'"
The club Wembley seats, occupied or not are included in the gate declared I understand ie the attendance is inflated

| Quote: Cibaman "When I first went to a Wembley cup final a large part of the appeal was that it was a rare trip to "the smoke". It was a big deal going to London then. Great excitement was had arranging the chara and the crates of beer, or posing in Trafalgar Square. That's all gone. Not reallly surprising that the fixture has lost some of its appeal.'"
For me, this is where RL doesn't exactly do itself any favours. I really, really don't like this "rugby league's big day out" thing - as if it is some sort of huge deal that us Northerner's have ventured to The Big City.
How do you sell RL as a forward thinking, progressive sport when you have this image of confused Northerners leaving their pit village for the one and only time each year?

Sadly that’s what the majority of the parochial M62 pit dinosaurs want. The thing is its so true. It is the one day a year that a large % of the north get to see the sun and pints priced at £5. Stop living in denial.

Is that greatly different to how the majority of the UK look upon the inbred toffs that populate Twickers car parks with land rovers on 6 Nations days.
All sports have pigeon holes to climb into, and all opponents of that sport will exagerate them.

39110_1363272058.jpg Dropkick Murphy..we actually saw and heard a mass of bouncing and scarf and flag waving to Dale Cavese that drowned out anything we could muster.. It stopped us singing our own celebratory songs, it died out seconds later when we accepted we couldn't be heard over the Wigan lot
Celebrations muted from us, job done from them. Most fans who slag them off are jealous their own club's support is nowhere near that good
-
sally cinnamon..Why not discuss Wigan? It's a rugby league message board. Wigan are the most famous brand in rugby league
-
Tre Cool..Saints fans are hopeless unless it's a cup final or grand final. Wigan fans are so much more loyal and passionate
-
the flying biscuit..Wires havent been massively succesful over the years, but I've spoke to Brian Bevan And he spoke to me and i wouldnt swap that for Wigans History, ever
-
Ande..on the TV i could only hear the Wigan fans with about 10 to go
-
Saint94..Every team is in your feckin shadow, we all know

| When they show the NFL Wembley game on the beeb the presenter (Jake Humphrey I believe) always bang on about 90K fans being there as to make out that it was so popular when in 2010 only 55700 turned up with a large portion of seats covered over in the lower tiers.
In any case no FA cup final has been an absolute sell out, the 2008 final was 89,874
People getting hang ups about a few empty club wembley seats is ridiculous, if you look at the 2009 & 2011 finals it seems the bandwagon fans of the finalists didn't attend or neutrals weren't interested as the attedances were 13.5K & 11.5K less than capacity

Perhaps so, but thats why thousands of neutrals would turn up every year. It was the event and the weekend as much as the final itself.
