| The point is, why can existing fans (season ticket holders) get in for £15 but NEW fans have to pay double that? It does seem a little unfair, and surely the whole point of an event like this is to attract new fans. If they notice that other people get in for half the price, they aren't likely to go are they?

It's only £20 for a house show, so if you're a skint family, go to them!
3 hours of wrestling. Can't beat that

The operative words in your comment are 'Season Ticket Holders', commitment already shown. This is still part of season ticket holders season, just an away match for all of us.

The other point you miss is the "new fans" CAN get in for £15 just like you. All they need do is buy a season ticket somewhere and hey presto, job done.
'"
Exactly. You reward your existing customers, but the key thing is that they have to be existing, which means they have to have already paid something. That's how businesses work.
It's like you're suggesting we make it cheaper for new fans instead. I'm sure existing fans would be happy then, forking out money year after year only to be told that they have to pay MORE because of this.
Either that, or you just want to make it ridiculously and unsustainably cheap for everyone, and to this I say go out and try and run your own business and see how you go about setting your prices. You won't last long if you set them low!

I don't think I've ever seen Sam Tomkins stop in the middle of the match and get in the microphone to talk trash, or Ryan Bailey come off the bench with a steel chair! Although they might as well I suppose!

I sort of agree with this and the first post in the thread. I don't see how the magic weekend is going to attract many new fans to RL with the current pricing structure. As someone else has posted in this thread, it is more an event for sky to fill a weekend programming, rather than any attempt to attract new fans/expand the game.

How do RU and Premier League teams get new fans? Do they pay special prices?

Thankfully, the RFL don't employ you to worry your head about this. But in general the idea is that new fans WATCH IT ON THE TELLY. Why the fsck do you think Sky are televising it? Do you think Sky
(a) want to attract new fans to increase viewing figures; or
(b) pay through the nose to stage and televise the event in order to have less viewers and lose money?
I'd leave the financial worrying to the Sky beancounters and just enjoy the games if I were you.

Is your brain the wrong way round or something? It is INDEED an event for Sky to fill a weekend programming! That's, er, like the whole fekkin point!
Yep, a whole weekend of rugby league taking centre programming stage. Have you actually thought about this at all?
Just answer me one question: What do you reckon Sky's aim is, in televising any given sport live and at great expense?
Or maybe a second: Which sport has got the vacated Monday Night Premeir League Soccer slot?
And why?
The Magic event is just that, a big EVENT, RL at centre stage, before a large audience, in the news. But I know, let's make admission free, so that people all go to the game, instead of paying Sky subscriptions. Can you see any catch with that at all?

| It doesn't appeal to me, nor a lot of people I know, because frankly, I just don't want to sit through three games. Likewise, I can take my wife and two under 8s to ONE game, and they enjoy themselves, but they'd never sit through three. Now, that doesn't mean it's a bad idea, just that it doesn't work for everyone.

I have however, seen a fan at a amateur game hit a winger with a kid's
pushchair, kid still in it. True that.

What is your point?
MM is not the GF or CC but to someone who is going to a game for the first time its largely irrelevant. GF and CC are not often great games due to what is at stake.
If you are that bothered, take your friends to your own clubs home games.
On the basis you are calling it the "tragic" weekend, I am guessing you are a glass very much half empty type. In which case, do everyone a favour and emigrate to somewhere you can find top level sport for less than a tenner a game

Bigger picture, it's aimed at RL fans. Hopefully staging it in the heartlands will see a good attendance (% wise) which will give the marketing guys a useful tool for future campaigns.
The use of Cardiff and Edinburgh were never really going to attract genuine new fans as there was no club for them to latch only locally.
I'd imagine there will not be that many die hards who will sit through four games. It's not reasonable to expect a newbie to the game to sit through any more than two games.
That being said, this thread is typical if the type of a fan who wants something for nothing. if RL is to be lauded as The Greatest Game, it should not be sold at Netto prices.

Only because Asda paid nearly £800m quid for their UK stores.
