Luck is a combination of preparation and opportunity
Just to avoid confusion Starbug is the username of Steven Pike
SOMEBODY SAID that it couldn’t be done
But he with a chuckle replied
That “maybe it couldn’t,” but he would be one
Who wouldn’t say so till he’d tried.
So he buckled right in with the trace of a grin
On his face. If he worried he hid it.
He started to sing as he tackled the thing
That couldn’t be done, and he did it!:9005.jpg |

Looking at the current level of attendances in the Championship, Batley or Dewsbury would be plenty big enough
A bad idea

| Quote: Dico "How about Doncaster, I think that's a great lil venue to play it at.
Or, make the magic weekend the last 16 of the cup, always Chp clubs involved so they could mix and match plus relieving SL clubs of a fixture.'"
I've suggested using MW as the last 16 in the past. The combined total attendance for this round is usually around 40-50k, so it wouldn't need a great deal to be worth more to the clubs. It makes the competition fairer by taking away home/away advantage, and fans KNOW where they will be if the progress.
Held on a bank holiday weekend, it could go down a treat IMO. Should do the same with the QFs.

Because attendances [ ie the number of people at matches ] generally means a better atmosphere at the games , and therefore a better experience of attending the ' event '
This applies to all sport , it's what makes us want to go

| It's a terrible idea. Next one please.... Generally RL fans stop for their teams game and naff off, have seen this on GF days. No thanks.. leave that waste of time and finance to the SL boys and concentrate on something a bit more viable.. such as subsidised travel for away fans that would help to provide atmosphere.

Subsidised travel! Haha. Good one! Let's get the RFL to spend loads of money on coaches for away fans who are too cheap to put their hands in their pockets but then complain that crowds are rubbish whilst sat at home.
For the same amount of money, they could be marketing the game in the area to HOME fans and getting double the numbers AND get some new fans.
Why do so many RL fans want something for nothing?!

| Why are people obsessed with 'Magic Weekends'? I'd go if Sheffield were in it, but I probably wouldn't watch any of the other games. Similarly, how many 'neutrals' would turn out to this when most of them can't be bothered for Challenge Cup matches because they have to pay an extra couple of quid?

Quite correct HL, 2 games is about the limit most would watch, and even then it usually when something fairly serious ( GF / promotion ) is at stake
But of course we should all want to be like SDL fans
Totally daft idea

| Quote: Wellsy13 "Well they're always complaining that there aren't enough fixtures, so don't see why they don't give it a try one year. Reckon you'd get a fairly good turn out for both days if you held it in Leeds. Reckon a fair few neutrals would turn out as well.'"
It's more meaningful fixtures in a structured fixture list without weekends off that Championship 1 requires not one or two day gimmicks which would fail to get the support where-ever it was held. If you have ever been to the Championship play-offs you will have noticed how the crowd goes up and down for each final as fans come and go from the pubs to see their own team play.
