| Me and the missus were jostled and spat at last year at the DW on the way back to our car by these Brigantes group. Nothing serious but scary. First time it's ever happened to me in 35 years of following the game.
The same night I say a Wire prat had a go at a child , tribalism that sometimes even goes overboard on here is not normally in rugby league's DNA and should always be condemned.

| On the flip side of the Wiggin fans at 'The Big One' in 2009 when Wigan played Leeds me and a few mates thought we'd go seen as it was a tenner a pop for such a big game, as usual we had our Leigh shirts on. Went up to a steward and asked, 'which is the away end?' the steward dircted us to the right turnstile, in we went and right into the middle of the Brigantes.
We got torn to bits, in a good way. Not the slightest bit of nastiness, got loads of songs sang at us and the Wigginers didn't even mind us cheering on the Loiners.

| you cant really define the term best fans, as it could refer to anyhting, numbers, loudness,or plain friendliness.
i have experienced plenty of muppets from every club in my 20+ years of following the game, my own club included, but i've met thousands more brilliant, genuine welcoming people at every club.
i would say though that i always find the london fans very welcoming and more knowledgable than some northerners, crusaders fans were always a pleasure to be around,as indeed are dragons fans down in perpignan.
as was shown last year in the play off game, huddersfield fans and warrington fans seem to have a very friendly rivalry, almost a rapport, i've always found wire fans to be brilliant with us and vice versa, yet i know of many fans who have problems with wire.
in the past i've had many problems at both hull clubs but thanlfully nothing the last few years, save for the odd numbskull at craven park.
of course i would always class giants fans as good supporters, well the ones who stayed loyal to the club throughout our darkest days, its easy supporting a team with a rich recent history and of competing in the top flight, its another thing when your team is proper pants for 30 years!
but on the whole i would say all rugby league fans are the best fans

| Quote: Finfin "Hudds is a funny one. Genuinely friendly fans, but you get the impression that they aren't quite as fanatical as the other top teams'; possibly because they are mostly new fans with little sense of long standing inter-club rivalry. Is that a good or bad thing? That infamous banner didn't do them any favours at Warrington last season either.
The stewards at Hudds are also more friendly and helpful than the rest.'"
like i said in my post, our fans are mainly new to the game, there's a few hundred of us kicking around who were there in the last days at fartown, we enjoyed our intense rivalries with batley, dewsbury, keighley, bramley etc, we have never really built a rivalry with any of the big clubs, playing the top clubs was something we used to dream of every year in the cup
our support is in the main, families and older generations who used to follow us but started up again when things got better ( thanks ken!) we lost 3 generations of support during the dark days, and unlike most clubs we dont have that big group of people under say 30 who tend to be the more fanatical type of fans.
as for the warrington banner, again, as i've said we have a brilliant relationship with warrington fans it was just some spur of the moment thing to show our appreciation, whether others liked it or not,we dont care really,in our eyes there's nothing wrong with a bit of sportsmanship

Why is Gareth Carvell amongst the KR fans being chucked out? Surely he's got his priorities all wrong here

Can one still buy a jacket like that in Hull? How quaint.

I'd be careful about labelling every trouble-maker at Wigan as part of the 'Brigantes' group. That group are nothing more than a collection of fans looking to make games more colourful and to improve the atmosphere. Despite what certain fans say, I've never, ever seen a balaclava at a Wigan game and they don't aspire to the violence of the 'Ultras' culture, just the loud colours and singing.
There are a couple of groups of youngsters following Wigan who cause the odd bit of bother and wear their colours, but that doesn't mean they're part of the Brigantes group. To be honest in over 20 years watching the club I've seen nothing more serious than the odd scuffle from home and away fans.
As for fans - every club has idiots, drunks and trouble-makers. True, some seem to have a higher incidence of trouble than others. The worst I've seen has always been at Warrington - but that's just my personal experience as a Wigan fan, and the welcome some groups of Warrington fans always seem to reserve for us. It also doesn't mean all Warrington fans are 'orrible b'stards.
A lot of it is down to personal experience. I've a lingering dislike for Leeds fans simply due to a tirade of abuse me and the Mrs received from a group of fans after the final whistle at the 2008 Elimination Final at Headingley, simply because I said, "good luck in the final mate" to a bloke I was stood near. I know some great Leeds fans but that stain has stuck.

But surely you can see how people will attach the Ultras name and skull imagery to violence and hooliganism? Both rival fans and also chavs from your own club?

Of course. And that's precisely why soon after it started growing they decided to drop the 'Ultras' name completely. As for the skulls, there may have been a one-off but I can't find any pictures of the skull imagery on flags - if you can post one I'd be most grateful. The main logo is a lion's head.
I'm not part of the group and therefore not an expert, but everything I've seen points to them just being a passionate group wanting to improve the atmosphere at the DW, which can be flat for some games, and also on away trips, and as far as I'm concerned they do a great job. That's not to say unruly elements won't jump on the bandwagon and in a crowd of thousands all wearing cherry & white it will be hard to differentiate.

Salford and Widnes.
Can't say I can label anyone as best or worst. I've met idiots who support every club and I've met sound people who support every club. And I'm including Salford in that as well.

| I think the fans of both Hull clubs are good, however seeing as though we are all lowlife scrotes who belong on the scummy underside of society Im going to say Wakefield fans are the best

| Quote: BaldRick "Bradford ... Never had a problem with anything other than the bouncy castle man . Fans are always ok , and the St Johns hospitality is first class .
Cas ... No problems . Plenty of banter , but nothing more .
Catalans fans are always very well behaved . They do talk funny though .
Crusaders .. I can't fault them at all .
Hudds fans are always a pleasure to meet . Wether it is in the Skyrack or the Gas Club the colours on your shirt are not important to them . They don't seem to care at all . First-aid staff are more than competent . They are so efficient they get annoying . They won't leave you alone .
Hull FC .. I only have second and reports of bad behaviour . I have been among them when it got rowdy , but nothing more than a bit of drink related noise .
Hull KR ... Ooooohhh . Some can be a bit naughty . But no worse than most others . They ain't a bad crowd really .
Leeds .... Some proper numpties that can go overboard and get a bit loud , but they mean no harm .
Saints .. What can I say ... Not had a problem with them at all . Even when outnumbered 200-2 and me and my side-kick were getting worried about what was about to happen ... guess what happened ... they shared their beers .
Wakey .. Again .. No problems .
Wire .. Of the few I have met one was trying to smash his way into my car as I was sitting in traffic .
Wigan . I have been assaulted at THREE different venues by Pies fans . I'm sure the majority are really nice folk , but from my experiences I wouldn't put them at the top of my list of favourite supporters .
Did I miss anyone ?'"
Yeah, me and the other London fan!!
