Quote: PopTart "We need a good quality commentator, regardless of a history in Rugby League and an expert who can talk about the game.
Eddie and Stevo are this except that Stevo is trying to be a character rather than an expert. When you have the likes of Cullen, Clarke, McDermott talking they give you an insight to the game that most don't see. Stevo generates excitement but not necessarily knowledge.'"
I think John Kear will make more freqent appearances on Sky next season, with Stevo being phased out; not a bad choice - he is articulate, knowledgeable about the game and at least has insights into contemporary players and teams, even if it is from the position of a head coach who's own team got drubbed by most of them.
From a BBC perspective - Davies is like Marvin the Paranoid Android; he is very negative and actually spoils the game. On a brighter note, I always like Clare Balding's involvement - she makes up for in enthusiasm what she lacks in RL knowledge; no use as a commentator, but a good presenter.
