Luck is a combination of preparation and opportunity
Just to avoid confusion Starbug is the username of Steven Pike
SOMEBODY SAID that it couldn’t be done
But he with a chuckle replied
That “maybe it couldn’t,” but he would be one
Who wouldn’t say so till he’d tried.
So he buckled right in with the trace of a grin
On his face. If he worried he hid it.
He started to sing as he tackled the thing
That couldn’t be done, and he did it!:9005.jpg |

What, you mean winning rugby games and not getting relegated wasn't enough That would be a novel idea.

EXPANSION TRUMPS EVERYTHING!!!!!
and if you want to whinge on about clubs having a right to be in SL ..we've won more trophies than both hull clubs so how about we kick you out and put oldham in......
no i did'nt think so.....so pipe down'"
Why should expansion trump everything? If that's the case why don't we kick out Saints, Wigan, Hull, Leeds and Wire (the 5 biggest in SL) for Glasgow, Newcastle, Milan, Dublin and Birmingham, ffs.
Hey steal 10,000 fans from one of the football clubs down the road and you might have a chance.

the P+R experiment proved to be terrible for clubs both at the top of the lower division and those at the bottom of the top.

| Well I'm not signing it, Wakefield bring nothing to the table and whilst I feel sorry for their fans the Superleague cannot grow and develop by keeping teams like those in.

so then we get rid of the salary cap and quota's and just let the clubs fight it out. See how long Wakefield last then.
It would be hypocritical to restrict clubs for the purposes of competitiveness when you are complaining that everything isnt settled by competition.

The new Owners at Wakefield have announced on numerous occasions that they are now capable and willing to spend the full salary cap so how does your imaginary scenario damage Wakefield's chances of competing on the pitch?

I always find it interesting to hear this type of view from supporters of a club who's original stadium was no better than Belle Vue and which was only replaced due to the good grace of their local council. I've said it before and I'll say it again when Wakefield Trinity move into Newmarket I only hope that the fans will act with a little bit more humility than some fans of other clubs.

Isn't that only based on an average of 10,000 crowds, though. I'm sure I read somewhere a few months back Glover or Elston saying that for every 1000 on the crowd they can spend X amount of the cap.

| For how long would they be prepared be to sustain hundreds of thousands if not millions of pounds of losses per year?

Only because they failed to implement a business plan robust enough to sustain super league status or to survive relegation!
As you're so eager not to blame Crusaders for Wakefield's failings so then, why is it Wakefield Trinity's fault that relegated clubs of the past failed to prepare properly?

Other than going into administration, which is a minus point, but Wakefield have a better crowd than Salford, play at the same ground they have done for years and years [pity the club have not improved it], and they have to overcome the expansionist prejudice which will keep in Crusaders and Quins.

because the salary cap no longer exists, and the 500k or whatever Mr Glover needs to put in to match the bigger clubs becomes much much more when they try to compete in an open market with the Likes of Leeds, Wigan, Hull and Saints and the sugar daddies of Mr Davy and Mr Moran.
